  • FUD

A huge part of people's reluctance to even try Linux operating systems is the Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt (FUD) passed around by Microsoft and other companies intent on ensuring Microsoft's overgrowth in the OS market.  Anybody have links to FUD-dispellers?  Anybody have any ideas on how to get that out to the masses?  I missed ...

  • Help with First build for Linux

I'm am a novice looking to build a non-Microsoft desktop for simple office use.  I can't quite find what I want from any system sellers. • Re: If you haven't heard yet...[yay]

I know you've received some questions about Linux support already, but here are the questions I would like to hear about: Q: As different Linux distributions are more widely used and Open Source software is more widely accepted, what is the long-term vision for support for that community? Q: In the short term, does nVidia have plans to add ...

I don't know how much of this is true or speculation from what I have learned so bare with me... and feel free to correct/reword anything on these subjects, but these are the biggest things i've been wondering about for a while... 2 part Q: It has come to my attention that Nvidia has made most of the card ''manufacturers'' little more than ...

  • The Rise of Linux

Excerpt from the GNU Manifesto: '' I consider that the golden rule requires that if I like a program I must share it with other people who like it. Software sellers want to divide the users and conquer them, making each user agree not to share with others. I refuse to break solidarity with other users in this way. I cannot in good ...

  • DMRaid configuration

suppose I wanted to dual boot XP and Ubuntu, and I have 2 160gb HDD's in RAID 0.  Well,  Ubuntu does not read my HDD's as a RAID array, just 2 separate partitions.  So, before installing Ubuntu, I used the live cd, downloaded dmraid from the universal repository, then I made my ext3 partition and linux swap on the HDD that didn't ...

  • Linux Partition help

When I installed Ubuntu I manually set up the partitions and in the instructions it said I only had to have two partitions, one for swap and the main one.  I am running two Seagate hard drives both 250GB's. • Writeup: $3,300 DIY Home NAS

I've been deployed somewhere out in the Middle East for the past few months, and decided that some of my hard earned money should go towards the Geek inside me. What would a normal geek do? Build a new home server of course! Money was an object to a point, but more than anything I wanted a relaible and quality built system that would ...

I also have a bunch of distos that I don't use like Mandriva LX, Fedora Core, Red Hat, SuSE,  and Gentoo (Plus). Lol, I even have Solaris 11 but I don't ...
