  • Router for XBox 360, XP and Vista

I came here to buy a router and an XBox 360 in order to use Vista's Media Center on my TV.However, I found out that the chat feature does not allow for questions of compatibility, so then I knew I would need an eggxpert. I have been using computers for years, even programming and building them, but I have never set up any network ever, and don't ...

  • Re: Wireless setup question

Or you could run a crossover Ethernet cable from one WiFi router to another WiFi router up at your bed and breakfast, though I would probably think about CAT6 and maybe running through a buried pipe to protect the wiring.  300 feet... you will have to see what the specs are, they may be 100 feet between routers, I cannot remember.  Cat6 ...

  • workgroup is not accessible

I'm back at my old job... and what do you know, we're swamped. As always. Gotta love working for the school district. At any rate, our office computers are unable to view workgroup computers with the workgroup name as WORKGROUP. However, if we switch it over to another generic name like MSHOME we can see and access everything a-ok. I got in on the ...

  • Wireless setup question

I'm exploring this topic to see if it's even feasible.  Here's the scenario. DSL comes into my house through a phone line, where it goes through a wireless router.  About 300 feet away from my home is my Bed & Breakfast, where I'd like to have wireless internet access.  I can't run phone or ethernet cable to the B&B.  ...

  • Linksys Wireless Router drops all connections

Hello again everyone. Yet another hardware issue that I'm working on. I'll keep you posted if I find a solution by myself. My old linksys router died on me. We just got a new wireless router and everything works fine for the most part, but every time the moon aligns with Venus (read: at random intervals) it will drop all connections to it. Here ...
