My brother and I recently built a computer as a DIY project. We now have $495 dollars more to spend and are hoping to upgrade the video card, motherboard (to one with 8 gb RAM), and processor (we want to upgrade to a quadcore). The computer is using an HDTV as a monitor and the video card must support HDMI or DVI ...

I currently have a Gateway FX540-S with an Intel® Core™2 Quad Q6600 Processor and am wondering what I would have to do to upgrade to an Intel® Core™2 Processor with Viiv™ Technology. That is, what would I have to do besides or including the new motherboard/processor?

I have also ...

Please excuse me if I've managed to stick this in the wrong forum. I've a dead Alienware computer that's been collecting dust for the last year and a half and want to upgrade its hardware, but I'm terribly ignorant about what kind of motherboard, processor, video card, and the like would be appropriate. It's got an Intel d875pbz motherboard, which ...

Ok, I cant figure it out, is the 940 a over all better processor than the 920? Or is it just a higher clock speed? If that's the case, why don't I just get the 920 and overclock it to 3.0? Any info would be helpful.

Hello,
This is first time being here, and by no means am I an expert in anything to do with computers,

I'm new at all this computer and internet stuff, even though I have been in the Computer Hardware Industry for 20+ years. PCB Desiger by trade. Worked on Unix Mainframes thru PC's. Used almost all OS's with the exception of MAC. Looking at the possibility of working for myself. Trying to decide what to do with the ''Rest of my life''. Currently ...
