I am planning on buying this processor: AMD Phenom II X4 940 Deneb 3.0GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core Black Edition Processor - Retail
I read that it will OC to 3.9GHz but I would only OC it to roughly 3.5. It says it uses 125W. How much extra power would I need to overclock it? Is there a way to figure it out?

A few years a go this was popular with techies and people wanting to get a bit more out of their system. It was also popular with people seeing how far they could push components to the point of failure without actually wanting to use this power in gaming.
As time went on manufacturers recognised people liked to have something ...
