  • Websites/resources re. how to build a system?

Hello all,I just ordered parts to build my first system (see below for specifics).  The motherboard seems to present (based on reviews) some challenges, which makes me a bit nervous for a first build.  Are there any good online resources to walk me through the build?  As a plan B, there is a local computer repair shop that I trust which charges ...

  • New AMD Build - all opinions welcomed

I am upgrading from the old socket 754 build I put together in college. This is my preliminary list of hardware. The budget is tight, so I'll be putting the core together first, reusing some old components, and upgrading as I can. I don't have too many builder friends, so any opinions and input would be greatly appreciatedMotherboard BIOSTAR ...

  • "The Rise and Fall of AMD & ATI ??"

I just now read that nVidia acquired Ageia...I thought that between Ageia physics and ''true'' quad core processing that AMD/ATI stood a chance of redemption by going a different route technologically. Around the time of socket 939 (seems so long ago) AMD seemed untouchable. Although ATI took the backseat graphically around that time, building ...

  • good overclocker

so im wondering what would be the cheapest upgrade for the cpu speed, i encode huge movie files, and do many other things that would just take less time with a nicely clocked cpu, i have a system that is decent but want to upgrade it, so i look to the motherboard as the cheaper possible upgrade, i have a e6400 core 2 duo that can easily reach ...

  • I got Quad baby. Yea!

I have finally finished my upgrades to my pc (for the most part anyway). I got a Intel Q6700 and a Abit IX38 Quad GT, and let me tell you, this thing is fast! I thought my old Pentium D 930 and Abit AL8 was fast, but man this quad core is as smooth as butter. I'm also happy to report that my Blue Orb II heatsink fits ''perfectly'' on the ...
