Hey guys.
I've got a fairly strange problem... I just built myself a new computer on Sunday (couple of days ago) and everything was going fine. After installing Windows XP and some basic programs, I started to download some stuff. It got late so I left my computer running overnight while it was downloading some stuff.
When I woke up ...

I am upgrading from the old socket 754 build I put together in college. This is my preliminary list of hardware. The budget is tight, so I'll be putting the core together first, reusing some old components, and upgrading as I can. I don't have too many builder friends, so any opinions and input would be greatly appreciatedMotherboard

The motherboard is a BIOSTAR A770 A2+ AM2+/AM2 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboardhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138106My
old heatsink cannot fit in the new heatsink slot (It was too large and the screws didn't line up with the new MOBO's holes to place it in.) and I need one that can fit in
there. I have looked but I'm having ...

...I think one last look-over would be wise.
My first build ever. I've pushed my budget to it's limits ($1100) and the only wiggle room I have, price-wise, is lateral or backwards...so if you know of a better component choice for the same price or less, by all means suggest it. I can't afford to buy a Core 2 Extreme right now, so ...

Fresh build. Looking for a mobo for my Q6600 and 8800 GT. There are so many options, but it looks like I've narrowed it down to a P35 board. Open to any suggestions even if it's not a P35. Should I go with the DDR2 ram or DDR3?

This is my system. Just built it. My problem is twofold:
1) My ram is seen as 800mhz which sucks.
2) It won't post unless I've just cleared the bios or I'm restarting from a running state.
I'm posting this from the computer in question, so I suppose I could ...

I just got one of these mother boards from NewEgg.
A lot of reviewers say the board runs rather hot, but none of the reviewers mention whether they are over-clocking the system or not. Obviously if you over-clock a system without supplimenting the stock cooling system it will run hot.
I don't plan to over-clock my system, if fact I don't ...

I am doing a new build and so far I think I want the intel q6700 2.66 ghz processor
(processor)
But after that, I don't know what mobo or video card to get. How does ATI compare with Nvidia nowadays? I know Nvidia is doing well but I am out of the loop for ATI.
Anyway, should the mobo be sli capable just incase (or crossfire)?
I ...

I just now read that nVidia acquired Ageia...I thought that between Ageia physics and ''true'' quad core processing that AMD/ATI stood a chance of redemption by going a different route technologically. Around the time of socket 939 (seems so long ago) AMD seemed untouchable. Although ATI took the backseat graphically around that time, building ...

Okay, so I got home yesterday from a month long underway to find everything I ordered from newegg to be waiting for, still in shipping boxes laid out on my desk. So, after spending the beginning of the day with the wife, I got home and sat for about 3 hours putting it all together. Three hours because I was also watching SCRUBS. About 2315 I get ...
