So a mobo with 4 memory slots that supports dual channel, would work with 4GB Dual Channel memory, and then maybe another 2GB stick, or even 1GB or 2 x 1GB Dual channel? I'm fairly certain this is ok, but I just wanted to make sure.

I wanted to get the OCZ3N1800SR4GK DDR3 1800 (which it looks like newegg doesn't carry anymore) and downgrade to DDR3 1666.
According to the specs the OCZ3P1600LVAM4GK is designed to work with AMD AM3, so I'm not sure which memory to get.
I asked OCZ and they said ''both memory kits will work just fine'',

I feel like I got ripped off. I paid for 4 meg of RAM as two pairs of 2 Meg Dual Channel but when I look at the System information in Windows it says I have 3.2 Megs of RAM. Could it be one of the 4 chips is bad or not seated, or is this one of those advertising things where a Meg is not ''really'' a Meg?
Any advice would be ...
