  • HDD's failing... maybe mobo?

I've had my rig for a little over 5 months now.  I've always experienced some issues with the PC (if I play a bunch of videos back to back, or skip through them in WMP, my comp crashes), but I didn't think much of them.  Within the past month, my PC has been crashing with some regularity.  Vista said it was due to the NVIDIA SATA ...

  • External hard drives powered off USB

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a great external hard drive that doesn't require a power source other than USB. After browsing through a few, I found http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136228 which looks excellent, but comes at a pretty steep price for its storage. Are there any others out there that you would suggest? Thanks!

  • Internal Hard drive setup issues...

Hello, I just bought a 500 gig internal harddrive from Newegg. It is the Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 Ultra ATA100 drive. For some reason, when I connected the new drive, it was showing up as having a capacity of 127 gigs, not 500 (or 465 after format). I'm not very tech savy, but I thought I would be able to handle replacing a hard drive. This is ...

  • Hard drive Issue, or something along that

Hello, my friend you see has been gaving some issues with his computer lately. At first he told me that none of the programs he installed would work, and hes been using this computer for about a month now. I told him to bring it over my house so I can take a look at it. When I was in there all of the program icons were gone, cmd wouldn't work, ...

  • PSU will power CD/DVD drives, but NOT Hard Drives

I've been building systems for a long time and this one is totally new to me (and driving me nuts).  I can't find any mention of anything like this via Google.  Here's what's happening... I just built my own system, containing an Antec EarthWatts 500W power supply (and a relatively old FoxConn Pentium 4 Motherboard).  I hooked ...

  • HDD detected by BIOS but not Vista installer

I am building a new PC and my intended OS HDD was not detected by the Vista installer (the SATA pre-boot driver was loaded from FDD just fine).  BIOS recognizes the drive (AHCI mode), but with truncated model# - ST33206 - weird since my other Seagate drives always show full model#’s.  I then pre-formatted the drive with a ...

  • System Freezes every 3 seconds

I just bought a new pc (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229012) and so far there is only one problem, now and then (it's only happened twice so far) the whole system will freeze like clockwork every 3 seconds. A reboot usually fixes it, but I'd love to know the source of the issue and take it out of the equation.  So ...
