I looked through the products and threads here and I can't figure out which one to get. I only need 1 port and I would like to stay cheap! Can ...

off then decide to turn it back on later to backup some stuff or to
take some stuff out, Windows 7 doesn't automatically detect it.
To make it detect it I would have to go to device manager, right ...

Thanks for the help on this matter. Are the connectors just identified by the name or do they also have different gender connections for each of the different named connector? For example, can a Sata port be either a male or female?

external sata drive without having to restart the computer every time I
want to ...

It is an emergency because I have some work saved in my external sata 750gb freeagent pro by seagate, but the thing won't light up anymore! It was working fine all the time before. It'd occasionally do weird things like not turning on with the computer, not getting recognized and sometimes it'd heat up pretty bad. But I thought those were just ...

Update: You might not have to bend the case so much after all...
Heheh the joke is on me I guess.... After all of this, I indeed discovered there *IS* a screw in the case, it was just painted over with some very convincing black paint, at least on my model.... And when I saw the underside of the aluminum connector inside the box, it looked ...
