A friend of mine recently received a Dell Vostro 1520 laptop with the standard Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X4500MHD (for suck).
Knowing that the NVIDIA GeForce 9300M is also available for this model, is there some means of upgrading the graphics card to this or another, aftermarket, without breakin the bank or the computer?

I have an old Dell Dimension 8100 with a 64mb Nvidia GF Geforce2 MX400/400 AGP graphics card in it. I play WoW a lot and I am really tired of horrible framerates and horrible lag whenever I get near any other players. The RDRAM for the computer is insanely expensive and the cards I have found have been reasonably priced. I took apart my compy and ...

Hi,
I have a Dell C521 with a AM2 socket. However it have a weird heatsink. You'll need to look up pictures. I want to upgrade the Cpu for 60 to a max 100 bucks. I don't think the the problem will be to find a CPU but to find one that will work with the built in heatsink. Also it's 90nm and a AMD athlon 64 ...

My xps 400 was built in 8-2006, service code 5t0bmb1.
It's getting to be old, but is actually still in great shape and fits my needs well. I figure if I can squeeze another 2 years out of it then spending the $250 or so will be well worth it over buying or building a new system.
I can confirm what you are saying about the xps 400 case. The ...

I'm looking to upgrade my PSU from the standard 375W one that came with the machine in order to upgrade my video card. I've heard conflicting reports as to whether a standard ATX PSU will work with this machine.
I'm looking at this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005
I know that this will leave about a 10mm gap, ...

OK so the digital I/O and the SPDIF on the back of my sound card are confusing me. Can someone point out a converter/cable to connect from my sound card to a digital coax connection (I would want optical but the wire will be running under a well traveled carpet).
Thanks in advance for your help!

My Dell Dimension 8400 just lost the sound card that was orginal to the machine when purchased 5 years ago. It was a Creative Audigy PCI card. I need to replace it but have no idea what to buy for this machine.
I am running Windows XP Pro, Pentium 4 3.2 mhz, 2 Gb RAM, Nvidia GeForce 8500 GT, with a 19 inch flat screen monitor. I ...

i'm doing some homework on shopping for a new desktop computer... my question is about most of the desktops out there on the market (with vista) and more specifically, dell computers. is it possible to buy a computer (at best buy or fry's or online or whatever), take it from the store and out of the box, and use a brand new ...

Before I knew what I do now about hardware, I bought a Dell XPS 400
to do a little bit of gaming. I now know I should just build my own
machine, but in the mean time, this thing works ok and I don't want to
just throw it out. I did want to upgrade the video card to this:

Hi there! I know there are a lot of posts here about this, but I'm a bit of a newbie to the HTPC area. I'm looking at the tv tuners for laptops that are express cards and are ATSC / ClearQAM / NTSC. There's a few and some REALLY very in price. Beyond that, I don't know much about the difference unfortunately.
I'm ...

and can accommodate 512 MB to 24 GB of registered PC-4200/5300,

I have an 2001 Dell desktop that originally came with Win 98. I flashed the bios and installed one of those student one time shot versions of XP. ( I didn't know it at the time that you could only install it once). I was wondering if it would be possible to buy an inexpensive OEM version of XP for it that would allow me to use it on just that ...
