I just bought a new Acer laptop for my daughter's college graduation present.  I bought it on June 26, the first day of the Win 7 Upgrade Option program.  I made sure to buy a system with Vista Home Premium, so that it would qualify for upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium.  I saw that Acer was a participating manufacturer in this ...

  • Acer Aspire AS4530-6823 + Win XP

As I was going through the customer reviews on newegg, I noticed a couple mentioning a possible problem if I were to format and load XP on this notebook: ''Windows XP and Linux will be a problem because those OSs lack power management options to keep this CPU cooler... You simply can't let this CPU run at full 2000 MHz all the time - it will ...

I recently bought a Radeon HD 4870 with a 600w PSU (it was a combo deal) to add to my recently bought Acer Aspire M3641.  No problems with the PSU.  The video card is huge, and it took some rearranging to fit into the case.  I have the video card installed and connected to the PSU, and the three LEDs on it are working, and its fan ...

  • FYI for anyone with an Acer Aspire 5520 laptop

This is an FYI for anyone with an Acer Aspire 5520 series laptop. Don't go by the specs listed by Acer. The specs are listed as DDR2 PC667 memory is the limit for the Aspire 5520-5716 laptop. If you use ''Everest Ultimate'', It will read the system and show that it's capable of running DDR2 PC800 memory at a max of 4Gigs. I imagine this is ...
