  • Re: RAID Array question

CthulthuDawn: Question is, can I achieve this by having 1 single larger hard drive than the raptors. Say I have 2 raptors at 150gb each (300 total) is it possible to have just 1  500GB drive to back up onto, or do i need 2 additional drives in a Raid 0? I'm a bit lost on that equation. Sticking to just the question above, NO, you cannot ...

  • Re: Issues with my RAID5

I can't tell from your original post, but I assume you are using the onboard RAID option with the ICH9R southbridge. Write performance on RAID 5 without significant onboard (or onchip) RAM is very slow--I would certainly NOT recommend it.  If you can, get another drive and make it RAID 1+0 (much faster). Alternatively, there are add-on RAID ...

  • Dual Boot in RAID 0

I currently have XP pro installed on a RAID-0 set up using a 680i-SLI. I have already created a partition for the new OS. I would like to install Vista on this partition and have a dual boot set-up. Has anyone done this? If so, is there anything I need to do before I install Vista? I slipstreamed my original install of XP Pro with the RAID ...

  • Transfering RAID0 between ASUS Motherboards

I have an ASUS A8N-SLI and tomorrow an open box ASUS P5N-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i should arrive. I have a RAID 0 currently setup between 2 250 GB SATA hard drives now and I was wondering if it would be possible to transfer it to the new motherboard. Do I just try to set it up with the same settings on my new motherboard? Thanks,Aaron

  • Thinking about a RAID 0 upgrade.

Alright, I've decided my ancient IDE hard drive is now my slowest component. So, here is what I'm thinking to replace it: Two Western Digital Raptor X 150Gb 10,000 RPM SATA 150 Hard Disk in RAID 0.  My two main questions are: I have an ASUS P5E mobo which has SATA 3.0Gb/s. Will this hard drive be compatible? And, since I'm planning on ...
