  • Ram problem

I have a K9A2 Platinum motherboard and i have 2 OCZ HPC reaper 2gb sticks in it. they are supposed to run at 1066 but the mother board states its running at 800 and the only way to change the number is to adjust the fsb ram ratio or change the fsb. the ratio is at the highest so the only way to increase the ram is to rase the fsb, but that raises ...

  • Re: Flashing BIOS

If you cannot flash from within Windows (and I don't think your motherboard supports this) then you must either buy a external floppy drive (USB), or a flash drive, or install an internal floppy drive, or flash off a bootable DVD/CD.  I recommend any of the three previous, but if you won't shell out any money for it, here is a bootable CD ...

  • Can't POST or BIOS with new MSI P7N Platinum

This is my first build from scratch and the first time I've run into a problem like this. I've put in all the pieces, but when I power up, I get a screen asking me to press DEL for BIOS or TAB for POST. When I do try to get into one of those, nothing happens other than the caps lock on my keyboard turns on (and won't turn off). I'm stumped. Is it ...

  • BIOS?

I don't know any detailed specs off the top of my head, but if you need them, I'll find out. My PC has a motherboard that's about 3-4 years old. I bought a WD SATA 160GB hard drive to replace my old IDE (same brand and size), and I'm on my second one because the first one was not recognized. I waited a few weeks to get a replacement only to find ...

  • Re: System Building Basic Guide - BIOS

Tiesto:great article but what the hell is a bios?  I am really new at building a pc from scratch, i've never done it.  this article seems geered more towards people who know these ''basic'' things.  this stuff about bios is the only thing preventing me from building a pc in the first place.  i wish there was a site that ...

  • What mobo to buy to support onboard video AND PCIE

I'm looking to build a few workstations in our office.  We use 3 monitors per desktop.  I'm looking to do custom builds to try to save some dough and have a system that will last longer.  The most important thing is that it has onboard video and the BIOS still lets me install a PCI-e video card and use both.  The last desktops we bought no longer ...

Here's my laptop bios splash screen, Luckily I suppose on yer mode of thinking. My bios supports jpeg importing. but I think it sucks also that almost every oem decides to drop all the advanced settings out of firmwares. • Re: USB problems: says the ports are non hi-speed

In your bios you have default settings.. it sounds like nothing is wrong with your usb 2 ports jsut that the high speed is not enabled with in your bio's Check out the bio's and go in each one and set them to not only power ( which will make any usb2 ports deferr to 1.1 ) but also check to see if they have any enhanced usb2 options some bios od ...
