  • Yet Another Build Looking For Advice - Intel

Yet another build looking to get the once-over by the eggxperts before I take it through checkout. I'd like to classify it as a modest rod, mostly for media, graphics (web & print) and gaming (mostly older games, though I'd like to be able to give current generation titles a go). Budget really isn't an issue, though I'd rather keep it under ...

I wasn't quite sure where to put this, so if this is in the wrong forum, please feel free to move it. I'll finally be able to complete my first build soon.  I have all I need but the processor.  I'm hoping to get an E8400.  The motherboard I have is this one: EVGA 122-CK-NF68-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel ...

  • 680i USB Floppy boot

I'm about to buy an EVGA 680i A1 motherboard, and I was wondering if it can boot from a USB floppy instead of an internal FDD. No big deal if it can't, just trying to save a few dollars. Thanks.

  • Re: STRIKER EXTREME AND Q6600 WOES !!! HELP !

Read this 680i overclocking guide from nVidia. http://www.nvidia.com/docs/CP/45121/nforce_680i_sli_overclocking.pdf Since you have a Q6600 you will overclock by upping your front side bus rather than changing the CPU multiplier, however, everything else the guide tells you to do, turn off speed step, etc, is common to both front side bus and ...

  • A little background...

I was building my computers for as long as I can remember. The first one was based on Russian clone of Intel 8080 with 16KB of RAM and cassete deck for data storage. Then there was XT, 286, 386, 486 (around this time active CPU cooling became a nessesety). Then there were some Pentiums and finally AMD Duron modded into Athlon XP by restoring ...

  • Building my own ultimate Rig

I've always loved working with Computers. Back in the Day, my first PC was a Vic 20, I thought I was in heaven. Through the Years I've owned several and the thing most lacked where originality. They where all whatever the manufacturer decided I wanted but came miserably short to say the least. After spending so much on a system, it's always been ...
