I think everything is going to work fine, but I just wanted to ask, will G.Skill 2x 2GB DDR2 1066 be supported by an ASUS P5Q? I have my computer here running Windows XP on 2 GB RAM, but I'd like to upgrade to the 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate with 6 GB total of RAM. I already have identical G.SKILL RAM, except it's two sticks of 1 GB (here), so that would make for a total of 6 GB. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work, but the only reason I ask is because I didn't see it in the motherboard's compatibility list, I just wanted to check to make sure it supports 4 GB modules.

Thank you!

Asus Netbook help Choosing Extra gig of RAM

Hi,

I'm picking out a netbook for a friend.

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220584

I am going to suggest she get an extra gig of RAM for it too, but I don't know enough about RAM/Netbooks to comfortably suggest what she should buy. I was under the impression that you would need exactly the same model that it already comes with not just any old DDR2 stick?? but I don't know. (I also can't figure out what exactly it already comes with except simply 1GB DDR2, I can't find mfg. or brand info)

a direct link would be great.

Thanks,

- Bliss

POST Power error after memory upgrade

I have built a computer with the following configuration:

MB: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale

GPU: MSI N9800GT-T2D512-OC V2

RAM: Corsair Dominator 2gb(2x1gb) DDR2 1066

PS: Corsair CMPSU-450VX

OS: Windows 7 64bit

The OS is a recent upgrade and as such I am trying to upgrade the RAM to 4gb. I bought another 2gb identical to the RAM I currently have. When I install it, it boots up fine the first time, however after about 20 min the computer will reset and will not POST. I get the "Continuous short beeps" which according to the manual is a "Power Error."

I can pull the new memory back out and everything works fine again. I have tried this twice now with the same result, boots fine once then "Power error" on reboot. The bios RAM settings are all set to auto, but appears to be running at 1.8v 5-5-5-15 timing.

Is there anyway to get this additional RAM in without the problems?

Need RAM recomendations for Gigabyte motherboard

Hi,

I am thinking of purchasing Gigabyte motherboard and CPU combo.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.254103

I am on a tight budget and thinking about going with DDR2 800MHZ ram at least 2GB

for Win 7 64bit.
