Dumb psu question-are these psus compatible?

So...I have an EVGA X58 motherboard, Intel quad core i7 Nehalem processor, and the Antec TP-550 psu I bought to go with them didn't even get it to spin up (despite appearing to have the correct connectors, and me doing my best to make sure everything was connected correctly). I'm looking at these two Silverstone PSUs as replacements-

My questions would then be as follows-

*Are they compatible with my motherboard and cpu?

*Is there any difference between 24 pin main connector and 20+4 pin?

*Will either of these be ample enough to power 2 GTX285 video cards and the usual assortment of other things that go into a system, and do they have the appropriate hookups? I currently only have one video card but I am planning on adding more in the future.

*Alternately, would other psus be recommended for my configuration/needs?

Thanks for the help. I used to be good at this sort of thing, but that was back in the days when processors still had 86 in their names :P Also, if this is misplaced, I'll be happy to repost elsewhere.

Won't begin start up even after full parts/connector inspection.

I have the CD/DVD Rom drives from the old PC transfered into the new Coolmaster case. Also I just bought a new HDD a month ago and transfered it to the new tower.

Here's the deal, I got it all in. It was all hooked up properly. I push the power button on the case and it slowly revs..revs...revs.. and then shuts off. I have no idea what the problem here is. I can't find a problem anywhere. I've removed the PSU and put in another from the old PC I was replacing (550 watt). That one imediately shut down and didn't even rev. So, I systematically remove possible componants (CD/DVD drives), leds, case fans and the like to see if that's the problem, still no love.

I'm about ready to throw something here. This isn't my first build, and I've modded almost every PC I've ever owned, but this $#%@& is driving me crazy people. If anyone has a decent idea as to what is going on (or not able to go on) I'd really appreciate the assist.

ok after a little convincing from XtremeRevolution (thanks by the way) i have decided to go with this set up and my quiestion is still the same, what psu togo with and if it will all work together, im sure that it does, but incase i overlooked anything, i am still tempted on going with a water coolijng system for OCing

n this system was only $150 more then the amd set up but i changed graphic cards n alot better mem
