I originally began my build with an

OCZ 600w Extreme PSU Crossfire ready
ASUS M4A78 Plus AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard
Mushkin Enhanced Redline 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000) Dual Channel Memory

I was unable to install windows XP 64 Bit Pro But Installed 32 Bit version only after I removed the Mushkin Memory and installed G-skill DDR 2 800 Memory the asus mobo was defective onboard Lan died in 2hrs. I sent the Asus Mobo and the Mushkin memory back for rma. I tested the Drives and DDR2 800 memory checked out.

Using the Biostar Mobo, Mushkin memory, 950 watt psu, and the corsair memory I was installing Win XP 64 bit Pro which failed repeatedly at the final stage, and windows XP 32 bit also failed immediately. I removed the Asus GPU and Corsair memory and installed DDR 800 Flashed bios with the latest Bios From Biostar. Still failed in installing 64 or 32 XP OS’s But I was able to install both Vista 64 and Win 7-64 ultimate Beta Using The Radeon onboard HD3300 Graphics However after about an Hr and installing the latest drivers for the mobo I had What Appeeared to be Gpu failure. I need to know if the This CPU and AM3 CPU’S No longer Support Win XP 32 or 64 or is it possible I Have a Bad CPU and How Can I Test it CPU Temp 26 to 33 C˚ My Guess the Mobo is bad.

MSI NF980-G65 Capability Question

Are there any incompatibilities with nVidia nForce chipsets on motherboards and ATI video cards? I just got the MSI NF980 board and I'm now wondering if there are any incompatibilies with nVidia nForce chipsets on motherboards and ATI video cards? I'm just curious because I'm looking into buying an ATI 4890 card. The motherboard has the PCI Express x16 slot the card requires, I was just curious if since the chipset is made by nVidia if there would be any incompatibilities with the ATI card.

Won't boot up, weird boot

Hey, I just finished building a new computer, but when I started to boot it up, only the power supply and optical drive boot up, no fans, no mobo, no hdd, no front panel LEDs, this is only my second build, and I am clueless, if anyone can help, please do. Specs listed below.

Phenom II with DDR2?

I am upgrading to a Phenom II x4 965 with an ASUS EVO 790x Mobo. Will I need to buy DDR3 or can I use my 4gigs of DDR2 for the time being in this build?

Or would anyone recommend something that is more bang for the buck? I'm open to suggestions, but I'm trying to keep a $400 budget on a new proc/mobo/memory type upgrade.

with a 500GB HDD

I'm planing on just replacing my old motherboard of AMD athlon 1.53ghz and my 480mb of RAM with 120GB, DVD, CD, Does anybody knows if i need something else to run it smoothly ? Or is that all i need to have a quad core up & running ?

I need your wise expert opinion !!!

ASUS nVidia AMD iii X3 / 720 Motherboards

I am in the market for a new motherboard. Supposedly ASUS is the best? If that’s the case –albeit good, bad or indifferent I want to know?!? I am looking for an upgradable nVidia AMD iii X3 / 720 motherboard combo. I have a budget of $250. Keep in mind that I do graphics and a little gaming. Any suggestions?

A friend tells me that I should look for a motherboard that is processor upgradable for a lest the next couple of years. I know how to install them. I just don't know much about them. I barely know where the BIOS is. Keep in mind too that I am going to install Windows 7 64-bit in October. I am currently using Vista 64-bit. Thanks.

thank you for the suggestion. To answer the question about the dual video cards, yea i am planning on using it. Because of the work that i do, it have to run multiple monitors so the idea of have more than one card is a must.

I was thinking that this should be enough juice for the computer. I guess, my main concern was the heat blowing on the mother board from the power supple.

As for the memory, not sure on what way to go. The only reason I thought about going with the ASUS and AMD route, is because I have had good luck with this combo in the past. However, from what i have read, ASUS board have some issues.

CPU Defect?

I have a Phenom 9600 BE, GTS 250, Foxconn mobo, 500 Watt PSU, 500gb HDD

I experece lock ups when using my computer. I think I have a defective CPU. I tested my Ram with MEMTEST86+ (Pass), GPU with 3d mark vanatge (lockup). After I tested my GPU and it lockedup, I tried my onboard GPU (Lockup). So it is not my GPU. HDD seems fine. I will get BSOD and sounds will go funny. I started with XP, then installed Windows 7, both lockup. I even tested everything with my WiFi card out. I think it all points to my CPU. My case does have enough cooling ( 2 out fans 1 input). Any other suggestions to help me out?

Two Alienware M17 Laptops Benchmarked

Hey all, I just figured i would post up a benchamark concerning both of my Alienware M17's... I have the results for Alienware #1 right now, and the results for Alienware #2 will be posted up tomorrow... So here we go!

Test Setup:
Both computers were benchmarked with all available windows updates for Windows Vista Home Premium x64 (as of 8-12-09), along with the newest drivers from ATI (as of 8-12-09). CCleaner was ran first, then done a complete defrag via Defraggler, and the power options in control panel were set to performance.

Alienware M17 #1 System Information:

The laptop was set upon a 17" Rosewell Laptop Cooler. The cpu hit 64 degrees Celsius during all the tests. The video cards hit 83 Celsius during all the tests.

I will post the results of the Alienware M17 #2 tomorrow.
