I really want to install Windows but I keep getting error code memory dump 0x0000008E. I get this error code from a fresh install, right after the hard drive has been formated and when the Windows CD starts loading the pointer and it says it is going to take 37 minutes to finish install there is where I get the blue screen. Any help is greatly appreciated. I am trying to install Windows XP Home Edition, tried installing Windows 7 but it would just freeze at the Windows Logo start up and I have already changed the BIOS to read Native instead of Legacy and I still get the same error. I didn't get anything that helped me, and I was wondering if it was worth it to sell it and get the entire Windows 7, or format my HDD and reinstall XP and then 7 over it.
Block websites on your Windows 7 PC, which you don’t find useful for your children.

Problem:

How to block internet places which are harmful for children?

Solution:

With Windows 7, you can block websites without any software installation.

Follow the given steps:

Step 1. Explore C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc.

Step 2. Look for a file named as hosts, then open it with Notepad.

Step 3. At the bottom of the file, add the line as shown below:

127.0.0.1 www.blockingsite1.com

We have just shown you www.blockingsite 1.com as example only, replace it with the actual URL so that they are inaccessible to all.

Step 4. Simultaneously if you have more websites that would like to be blocked, just press Enter and repeat step 3 to add additional URL until all desired websites are added. Now make “Enter” at the last line of the UR

Step 5. Save and close the file.

After doing the above formalities all websites that you have entered will be blocked with immediate effect. Definitely this theory will help you to prevent certain websites from being accessed by your kids or anybody else for any reason.

I have had my current router for over two years, and it started with blazing fast speed. Over the last 6 months, it has slowed down and even brought some computers to a halt. These computers are the farthest away, might I add. I have heard from some sources that routers will slow down as they are used, and we have put in some hard use on our router. I was wondering whether replacing the router would help our network. A comcast representative that was helping me, reset my modem, but it didn't help.
yes. my computer is a piece of c**p. and im working on getting the money to get a new one. This is a dell made in 01 and came w/ Win2000. Now it has XP SP3... and with only 1000mhz... as well as all of the other crappy parts... you can imagine the speed issues i have.

so, basically i was just wondering if this is even worth over clocking. and if its possible without ruining my computer. This would be my first OC and the processor is locked. i'd also like to know what speed i should or am even able to overclock it to.

That is when the fun really started.

USB port went bonkers that surpassed what happened when I first got the computer almost three years ago. The mouse and keyboard was fine but it just won't recongize my printer (Lexmark X1185), webcam (Logitech) and tablet (Wacom).

Some programs like Trillian decide to bug out with errors even though it was working fine before I restarted the computer.

Asian Language packs and the settings went bonkers.

Disk checks aren't pretty...

<strike>Lastly, currently the CD drive decide to not open.</strike> (Fixed)

Overall pretty frustrating considering this is finals week and all. I'm currently thinking about going back to how the computer originally was, minus removing the RAM, then reinstalling XP again.

What I added onto this Dimension E521 is:

2 GB of RAM (Crucial)

Antec Basiq BP500UB 500W ATX12V

EVGA GeForce 8600 GTS 256MB

Some USB port PCI card.

There are also some HDs, external and internal, but I removed those already.

So yeah, I'm going to remove those besides the RAM (I still have the original PSU) and then reinstall unless you guys have any other ideas, which would be appreciated.
