Is it Me or is the GTX cards like the 275 and 285 disappearing? I'm looking for one but more and more are ether out of stock or deactivated! Does any know why?

Are there any incompatibilities with nVidia nForce chipsets on motherboards and ATI video cards? I just got the MSI NF980 board and I'm now wondering if there are any incompatibilies with nVidia nForce chipsets on motherboards and ATI video cards? I'm just curious because I'm looking into buying an ATI 4890 card. The motherboard has the PCI Express x16 slot the card requires, I was just curious if since the chipset is made by nVidia if there would be any incompatibilities with the ATI card.

Yes, your referenced product is not considered an ION. First, it has the GeForce 9300 gpu. The ION has the GeForce 9400 gpu. Second, it is married to the Atom. Here is the press release describing the ION:

Upgrade from 9800GT?

I'm looking to upgrade to a better graphics card. Currently, I have an XFX 9800 GT:

I'll be selling this card to a friend for about half of retail value, $50, and I'm searching for one to replace it with. As I'll be selling this card, I'm in a budget of around $100-150; I'm wondering if this is too limited to find a card that would make a significant difference. I'm open to ATI and NVIDIA. In my price range, I figure I'll be looking at Radeon 4800 series and GeForce GTS series cards.

I think that a key here will be looking out for deals as they come along. I missed my chance with a few cards listed in a 24-Hour sale yesterday, but I'll be keeping my eyes peeled.

Please, does anyone have any suggestions, ideas, etc.? Even basic suggestions on what kind of specs I might look for? Thanks.

Nvidia GTX 200 Series Card Length

Hey all. I am building a PC with this case:

I would like to use a card from the GTX 200 series (for my budget, this means a 260, basically) and am looking for a card that will simply fit inside of this case. All of the 200 series card seem absolutely gigantic. Does anybody have any suggestions on where to head for something that will cram in there?

ATI HD4870 vs nVidia GTX 285

I was wondering which one you think would be better for my new build. I am thinking that I can get better computer performance with the nVidia becuase of its DirectCompute capabilites with Windows 7. This allows the GPU to do CPU work, therefore freeing up the CPU. Is this really going to have a large impact on performance? The positive thing about the ATI card is that it has GDDR5 memory in it as opposed to the nVidia which has GDDR3. What is your opinion? This computer is for gaming and multimedia purposes.

Two Alienware M17 Laptops Benchmarked

Hey all, I just figured i would post up a benchamark concerning both of my Alienware M17's... I have the results for Alienware #1 right now, and the results for Alienware #2 will be posted up tomorrow... So here we go!

Test Setup:
Both computers were benchmarked with all available windows updates for Windows Vista Home Premium x64 (as of 8-12-09), along with the newest drivers from ATI (as of 8-12-09). CCleaner was ran first, then done a complete defrag via Defraggler, and the power options in control panel were set to performance.

Alienware M17 #1 System Information:

The laptop was set upon a 17" Rosewell Laptop Cooler. The cpu hit 64 degrees Celsius during all the tests. The video cards hit 83 Celsius during all the tests.

I will post the results of the Alienware M17 #2 tomorrow.
