I have bought tons of stuff from them. Honestly, I am worried they have changed thier core operations. I just bought my wife's laptop from Tiger Direct because they offer a 30 day money back or exchange and seems much more customer friendly. Funny enough hers worked fine and I am still waiting on NewEgg with mine. Have you had better luck with them with your laptop exchange? I read the policy before buying but still bought from the due to my prior experiences with them. Now, I wonder if that wasn’t a mistake. At this point I don’t think I would recommend anyone to by a PC or Laptop from Newegg, but they may prove me wrong. Please tell me they will resolve this soon without me waiting until Christmas to get my laptop back.

Why are there no desk top icons to short cut to the *.exe file, and why doesn't it appear in my programs file list. Why do I have to give them my DVD combo drive to play this game. To add where is the manual its not on the disk, so how does one play this expletive game. I am about to throw this disk out the window.
I'm new to the EggXpert forums and any advice is appreciated.

I am looking for a Wireless Keyboard that has built-in mouse,
keypad, trackball, control stick or other such device to control
the cursor from the keyboard. The idea is to NOT have two separate
devices. This will be used with a computer connected to a large screen TV.

My personal vote is for the Logitech G15, although I have no personal experience with anything Razer, so my view is probably pretty biased. Take into consideration the price of these peripherals.

Suggestions for new keyboard

So I'm building a new desktop to take over from my broken Dell laptop. Now, I already have a keyboard from a much older computer I had just laying around and it will have to do for the time being. What I wanted to know was if anyone knew of any keyboards that resemble the way a Dell laptop keyboard feels; The way the keys are almost flush with each other instead of having those quarter inch gaps between them and the very short distance between pressing the keys and when they register. Pretty much all the keyboards that I've seen with desktops are big and clunky and I just can't get used to typing on them after using the same laptop for about 3 years. If anyone has found anything like this let me know. Would be much appreciated
Re: Controlling LCD from a PC in another room

kunzy:

sounds fun to me. Also, you may be able to get away with using USB extension cables and feed that through the wall with the HDMI and mount the bluetooth reciever behind the tv.

In fact, that leads me to another idea: since many of the wireless keyboard/mice combos have a setup where you plug the USB cord into the computer, then put the receiver on top, or out front, I'm thinking instead of just making the hole in the wall a little larger, and doing that. Simple enough to do since the hole in the wall can be placed directly behind the computer and the USB ports on the back. Or just run a powered hub through the wall. In any case, that may be the direction I go.

Another advantage to that seems to be a greater and cheaper selection of keyboard/mice combinations at lower price. I'll just have to dig through the ones that are available and see if they have the wired external (non-bluetooth) wireless receiver.

kunzy:

And was going to say watch out because the TV expects the audio with the HDMI but the computer doesn't usually put the 2 together but it looks like you already took that into account.

Hopefully, I will not have that problem. I've looked specifically for video card HDMI outputs that combine audio and video - and looking at TV's that will accept the same.

Controlling LCD from a PC in another room

To start, if there is a thread where these questions have already been hash to death, please point me to where I can go and learn. That said...

I am wondering if it is possible to run something like a bluetooth wireless keyboard/mouse in a separate room to where the computer is located.

I ask because the living room wall where we are going to place a LCD television is located right next to my study where my PC is located - on one side is my desk with my PC and on the other, the blank wall where the LCD is going to be located. They will literally be less than a foot apart, as the crow flies.

The idea is to simply drill a hole through the wall, allowing a HDMI 1.3x cable to go from my PC's video card to the LCD television on the other side of the wall. I've done some measurements and a 4 foot cable would do the job, though I would want a more generous cable length of 6 ft.

Is it possible for a bluetooth signal to travel 17 feet across a living room and through a sheetrock and 2x4 wall, covered with a thin plywood wood paneling, to a PC on the other side of the wall. The 17 feet is a maximum reach from any chair or sofa in the living room.

If it is possible, and if anyone has done so, any recommendations on what to get?

Given my current computer, I think that all I need are the following:

Video card that has an HDMI output and that is HDCP compliant. Other than watching videos, I do not tax my video card at all. No game needs. I favor ATI, and have since I switched from Matrox years ago. Oh, the card would go into a PCI-Express slot. I've looked around NewEgg and there seem to be some values around.

Bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo of some sort, perhaps in one piece. The DiNovo would be a stretch, budget wise.

HDMI cable, 6 ft long.

And, of course, a 22-32 inch LCD television with two HDMI inputs that does not have any PC overscan display problems. I think I understand that issue. I plan on initially getting sound from the mini-jack to an old, but adequate 2.1 sound system, and later using either an optical output to a 5.1 sound system, or getting a DVD sound system combination, hence the requirement for two HDMI inputs (one for PC, other for 'whatever').

ALTERNATIVELY, I've though instead of getting an LCD television, simply getting a HannsG 28" Wide Monitor, True 1080P with HDMI, 3ms, 800:1, 500 cd/m2 and 3 YEAR WARRANTY from Costco, getting a video card with HDMI output for the PC and bluetooth mouse combo and going that way.

That seems like a good idea, but input would be appreciated. The one negative I see with that would be watching TV would require having my
PC dedicated and working as a Television receiver as well.

Finally, my computer specs:

AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+, 4 GB memory, Windows XP Service Pack 3, 750 GB Seagate, and two 200 GB Maxtor hard drives. Of course the video card (a ATI Radeon HD 2400) would be replaced. I have thought of getting an upgrade to a Phenom Quad Core processor (my Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3 Motherboard was purchased expressly for such and upgrade, as well as being able to add a couple more sticks of 2GB memory to bring it up to 8 GB, if needed, or if could be used).

I hope I've covered everything.

Thank,
Jim Tom Polk

Keyboard

Why does NewEgg not carry the following keyboard? It seems to be a very solid keyboard replicating for the PC the look and feel of an Apple keyboard:

http://www.ipcrepublic.com/hiper_hck1k18aus_alloy_aluminum_keyboard_1863_801.html

See for example:

http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=246&num=1
