ASUS TUSL2-C board upgrade question

I was sent to this site by newegg, who was absolutely no help.

A friend of mine is looking for memory for a motherboard he's purchasing today, but I'm trying to get him to buy all components from newegg, if they have them.

Basically, he has an old ASUS TUSL2-C board and we want to upgrade him to a faster and newer board, but we have several large in good working order, EIDE hard drives and want a board that is EIDE compatible. We also want to keep the same tower (original tower that came with the ASUS) since it's a good one. He's been looking at buying the following...

Building My FIRST System - PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Alright So I want the best computer I can build for under $1000

I will not use the computer for gaming but I will be downloading a lot, will need dual burners to burn 2 DVD/CD at the same time (dual burning), Will have lots of things running at once, like video editing/creating software, browsers, media servers, etc. I also need a minimum of 1TB HD.

So far I have looked at buying the following, please if you think of an available bundle and/or better product please tell me!

I originally began my build with an

OCZ 600w Extreme PSU Crossfire ready
ASUS M4A78 Plus AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard
Mushkin Enhanced Redline 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000) Dual Channel Memory

I was unable to install windows XP 64 Bit Pro But Installed 32 Bit version only after I removed the Mushkin Memory and installed G-skill DDR 2 800 Memory the asus mobo was defective onboard Lan died in 2hrs. I sent the Asus Mobo and the Mushkin memory back for rma. I tested the Drives and DDR2 800 memory checked out.

Using the Biostar Mobo, Mushkin memory, 950 watt psu, and the corsair memory I was installing Win XP 64 bit Pro which failed repeatedly at the final stage, and windows XP 32 bit also failed immediately. I removed the Asus GPU and Corsair memory and installed DDR 800 Flashed bios with the latest Bios From Biostar. Still failed in installing 64 or 32 XP OS’s But I was able to install both Vista 64 and Win 7-64 ultimate Beta Using The Radeon onboard HD3300 Graphics However after about an Hr and installing the latest drivers for the mobo I had What Appeeared to be Gpu failure. I need to know if the This CPU and AM3 CPU’S No longer Support Win XP 32 or 64 or is it possible I Have a Bad CPU and How Can I Test it CPU Temp 26 to 33 C˚ My Guess the Mobo is bad.

Won't boot up, weird boot

Hey, I just finished building a new computer, but when I started to boot it up, only the power supply and optical drive boot up, no fans, no mobo, no hdd, no front panel LEDs, this is only my second build, and I am clueless, if anyone can help, please do. Specs listed below.

Odd CPU heatsink problem

Hello,

I am having trouble finding a heatsink that will fit on CPU2 on this board. (ASUS Z8PE-D18) I have tried both the Zalman CNPS10X extreme, as well as Artic Cooling Freezer 7 revision 2.

Both of these are for the correct socket (1366), and the holes do line up, but there are capacitors on the board that get in the way of the mounting plate.

Note that both of those heatsinks work fine for CPU1..

ASUS has not been helpful so far...

Anybody have a rec. for a heatsink?

Asus Netbook help Choosing Extra gig of RAM

I am going to suggest she get an extra gig of RAM for it too, but I don't know enough about RAM/Netbooks to comfortably suggest what she should buy. I was under the impression that you would need exactly the same model that it already comes with not just any old DDR2 stick?? but I don't know. (I also can't figure out what exactly it already comes with except simply 1GB DDR2, I can't find mfg. or brand info)

Hi - I think i have bad news for Asus P5K Pro motherboard owners. - It will not work.

I tried number of time with Asus P5k P5k motherboard (with latest bios in it) and 2 x Club3D radeon 4550 cards (with latest drivers).

Motherboard support claims that Club3D radeon 4550 card/s are faulty.

But both works fine, in 1 x combination and 2 x combination but i cant activate in CCC Crossfire option, i cant see it.

I tried, with

1 card on PCI-E 16x slot = works fine

1 card on PCI-E 4x slot = works fine

2 cards on PCI-E 16x and 4x slot = works normally, but not crossfire available

Club3D cards are crossfire cards

Asus P5k Pro is "crossfire" compatible only on manual and webpage, not realworld.

Help Choosing Netbook - Unique Circumstances

I'm looking to get a netbook, but am having a little trouble. I already have a desktop gaming computer, and actually already have an ordinary laptop. However I'm looking to get something much more portable, so I want a netbook to supplement those two. Since I don't really need it to fulfill the roles that the others do, I mainly want to take it to class for notes and surf a couple of sites. However, again I already have a laptop so I can always watch videos in a separate room on that, or play games on the many portable game consoles I have, or on desktop. I'm not sure where to turn, as a lot of these seem to be aimed at people who don't have any laptops.

I keep reading how several new netbooks are coming out soon, so I'm also wondering if I should wait. I can wait a little bit, but I don't want to wait too long because I would like this for class. The current laptop is just far too heavy and bulky to easily take to class like I would want. Also, with Windows 7 coming out/has come out I'm unsure of what netbooks will fully support it, if I should wait for those that are officially shipped with it, or what have you. I don't want to spend too much, I would like for it to be around 350, though getting up there near 420 would be tolerable. I simply don't know what to choose. It seems that they are evolving so fast, should I go with a standard 10 inch, wait for a good 11 inch with a bigger resolution, or go with a 12 inch with that HD resolution. Again, I already have a laptop to use around home, so I don't need the netbook to do everything, but with recent changes, what should I pick?

The only ones I'm going back and forth between right now are the Asus EEE PC 1005ha for a 10 inch (but again, that lower res) or a 12 inch Samsung NC20 (However I already have a bigger laptop, so I may not need 12 inch) But I'm up for anything really, not just those two. I don't know what to do.

Help with RAM upgrade of an Asus Netbook

I have an Asus EEE PC 900 series netbook that came pre-loaded with Windows XP. It has a 16GB SSD and 1GB RAM. After buying a 2GB stick of RAM and installing it I have had a weird issue. After the computer boots, if I am running off the battery, and I then plug in the AC cord, the computer will lock up. If I boot the computer while already plugged in to the wall, everything runs fine. I can even unplug the computer. But if I plug it back in it will lock up again. Any solutions? Thanks in advance for your help.
