• Re: Define your next generation desktop here!

Cloud computing is cool for netbooks so you can have more access on the go, but I would hate to see the day when today's idea of a desktop gets overshadowed by using weaker computers to connect to servers for every program becomes the norm.

  • Re: what u think of this core i7 notebook?

i7 architecture is different than C2D and the AMD you had. It will work much faster than a C2D at 1.6ghz.

  • Re: Computer making strange noise...

I changed it to ''High Performance'' and it's still doing it. I'm just going to ignore the sound until something bad happens since it's probably just the CD drive randomly spinning.

  • Re: A tale of two laptops...

The HP comes with windows 7 and the ASUS comes with vista. Unless you have a copy of 7 on hand I would go with the HP. Spec-wise they are very close. The ASUS accidental insurance makes up for having slightly slower RAM. Part of me would go for the ASUS, but having them be the same price and one come with Vista makes the difference night ...

  • Computer making strange noise...

I installed Windows 7 last week and every now and then my computer making a sound like it is turning off, but it doesn't. From the location of the sound and the nature of it, I suspect one of my HDD's is either stopping or slowing down significantly, but I see no performance issue. Is this normal? Have other people experienced it? The ...

  • Re: has marriage or relashionships affected ur gaming?

My girlfriend plays WoW and a lot of small flash-based games so it isn't an issue 99% of the time. I canceled my WoW account but she's still playing so it annoys me when she goes on and on about something they added to an in-game holiday. It could be worse... Finding someone who has played all of the Blizzard games I have is pretty ...

  • Re: Laptop ethernet port

Call dell and you'll have to send it in for repair. Look to see if it's cracked or something.

  • Re: Laptop ethernet port

I have the same laptop and the ethernet port never has given me trouble (although the power button wouldn't work so I had to send it in a few months ago). I would say check your cable. Ethernet ports are pretty sturdy.

  • Top netbook brand?

My gut tells me to go with Asus, but I can't help but wonder how MSI, Samsung, Acer, etc... compare. Who do other people consider to be the best netbook maker?

  • Re: Connecting a Gateway Netbook to a LCD TV?

A lot of LCD TV's have a VGA port in the back. All HDTV's should have them and most likely standard definition as well. Check to see if yours has one. That would work best. you just have to set your netbook to output to the VGA port and set the TV input on VGA or sometimes they call it Computer. I used my Vizio 32'' HDTV as my monitor for ...

  • Re: I wanted a netbook, now I prefer a thin-and-light.

I don't think any of these laptops are really superior to netbooks. You'll get roughly the same battery life and also roughly the same performance in my opinion. Yes, you will see a slight improvement in performance, but it's not significant. At $300-370 for a nice netbook you will find a better bang for your buck. I recenly bought a ...

  • Re: What's inside future low-cost MacBooks?

If Mac came out with a $600 notebook, I might look into buying one. But then I realized that it would be filled with pretty bad hardware :( A windows notebook that I bought for $750 has the same hardware (give or take a few MHz and a gig more of RAM) as the $1200 MBP. If Mac could get over their overcharging for hardware then ...

  • Re: How old are we?

Just turned 20. I don't mind gaming with older people if they're cool with it. I play a lot of WoW so I've played with people who play WoW with their kids or wife/husband so the idea of adults gaming isn't strange to me. It's those 13 year olds I dislike...

  • Re: Microsoft confirms Zune HD coming this fall

It would be cool if the Zune HD gave the iPod Touch serious competition, but realistically it wont beat it out of the gate. Apple has been at this for about 2 years now and recently released an OS update (I still haven't upgraded, but meh). It's easy to speculate that MS will 1-up Apple with more features but I doubt MS will cram it full of extra ...

  • Re: xbox 360 E71 error code

You can get a $200 Xbox 360 ''Arcade'' and use your old HDD. Probably the cheapest fix.
