The second I saw the .Net framework in Firefox, I uninstalled it. Now I'm glad I did.
Good find, Tracer.
EDIT: Looks like Firefox has disabled the add-on for user protection.

Crossfire is less stable than a single card, and unless you're running at a very high resolution (over 1080p) you won't see much perfomance gain. You definately need to upgrade your power supply though. The only one you listed that I'd ever recommend is the 450VX. I've used it, and it can handle an 8800GT/9800GT just fine, although those cards are ...

The reason is Callisto:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=callisto&x=0&y=0
Kuma was a dual core Phenom. Callisto is the same principle--a Phenom II x4 with two cores disabled. They both run at 80 watts. The 545 runs at 3.0ghz with a locked multiplier and the 550 at ...

The goal of this game is simply to post something you've read or seen somewhere that seems so obvious that you wonder why it was written in the first place. Me first.
Do not eat iPod Shuffle.

Sorry to say that ''AM3'' motherboard is really an AM2+ and can't use DDR3 memory. You can always tell the AM2+ boards because they support the original Phenom and Athlon x2's, which the AM3 boards can't.
Here's the AM3 version of your motherboard: ...

I hope you don't mind if I make a couple suggestions.
For either the 80 dollar or the 115 dollar AMD CPU, you might consider listing the Phenom II X2 545. Right now its 89.99 on Newegg, and not strictly an 80 dollar processor, but should be close enough. It also falls only 0.1ghz behind its big brother, the X2 550. Very nice processor ...

Give them to relatives. I never have more than one spare machine, and if I gave it away to a school who would benefit from it? Besides, I have some relatives who are in desperate need of new computers. They usually have old, old, old Pentium III or earlier technology and anything I have extra would be a considerable upgrade.
When I've really ...

Jsv hasn't updated probably because he doesn't have the time. When he first started he was able to do monthly updates, but that's no longer the case. Heck, he changed the format to make it so the list wasn't as easily outdated.
It's not that he's ignoring us, its probably more accurate to say he hasn't visited the site long enough to do ...

Thanks, sparker. I figured that, but I wanted to be sure. I only sold it for 20 dollars, but I already spent the money and I'd feel very bad if it was a motherboard issue and I couldn't refund it.
EDIT: It was a power supply issue. After using a different one, it works fine. Thanks everyone for their help!

I recently sold an old motherboard. The guy I sold it to told me that it will not post. When it tries to post, it gives one continuous beep. He is using a 20-pin power supply in the rig (the motherboard is a 24 pin) with onboard video. When he disconnects the CPU pin, it posts. Switching RAM doesn't work.
I don't know much about his ...

I'm a L4D player. A friend of mine in Nova Scotia sent me a gift copy through steam a few months ago. Fair warning; I'm not very good at shooters and I routinely hurt people when I try to save them.

jamorama:Hey, jsv35! I seemed to notice that unless I'm wrong, the Phenom II tri cores are not compatible with the motherboard! Apparently, they use different socket types, unless I'm wrong...
AM3 processors are backwards compatible with AM2+ motherboards. All that's needed is the latest bios.

Nice changes to the format, JSV. Allowing the user to pick from a group of components versus a single one (that may be out of stock) while making sure it stays quality--great idea.

Hey, my mom's computer had some old problems (actually it was mine, she loaned me her heatsink fan). Now
that I'm looking to spend Jan getting it up and running, she's gotten
used to my Vista 64 bit and is looking for some new hardware.
I
figured I'll keep the processor and power supply (2.6ghz Athlon 64 X2
and Corsair 450VX) and the IDE combo ...

Right now, I'm planning a build based off your cheapest budget computer. Only things I've changed are the power supply and RAM; I'm using an Antec Earthwatts 430 and the Super Talent RAM that used to be listed here instead. Considering the person who is getting it has never had anything more advanced than an IDE hard drive, a socket 939 2.2ghz ...
