Music can be put to a dolby pro logic mode or a 4 channel music mode if your audio card software supports environments for this. Meaning you can most certainly use more than a left/right setup. Admittedly I am using a digital link and my receiver supports extra modes, so the type of sound card I have doesn't really matter since I am using ...

Biggest factors to keep in mind when shopping for any processor:
Socket type. Later the style the better.
Speed is important, but not as important as:
The number of cores. HT or not.
Amount of cache. I mean a process that runs 3GHz with say 4mb of cache is going to get outrun by a 2.6 GHz chip with 8mb.
FSB also plays a factor, ...

Never heard of it. What is it?
My thing is, with anything google related you download the one thing you are after and get two tons of other crud that you don't want.

I have a suggestion for a work around:
Restore your files on a different PC with XP and Nero on it. Then copy them to your newer computer by saving the files AS files on a data CD, or copy them to an external device like a usb card or an ext HDD, or use a network and transfer them that way. Just don't use the Nero backup. Not a ...

Free normal UPS shipping on anything for say 24 hours. lol
Spend more than a 100, get 10 percent off the order. Spend more than a 1000 get 15 percent or more.
Every 100th or 1000th order give away a free copy of Windows 7.
Do a ''build your own system'' deal. Like put in an order for system components (hardware AND OS) and get ...

Nope, it never does.
One reason my computer sitting here has had well over 3 grand put into it over the last 7 years. But I am still on the same motherboard. However its reached its end. Next stop is an i7.

BLAH!
I recently bought a 9600 quad... Got to thinking incorrectly when I read that..... Of course that does change things, but your troubleshooting still points to both being possibly bad. Unless his BIOS doesn't support your processor, but he could try updating it too. If it were me, I would probably try the ...

Agree totally with that example. Thanks for putting it into better words! lol
Hence the reason I run 0+1. Much better for the cheaper RAID onboard chip. And the performance isn't bad either. And yes, corruption of your data if power is lost while stuff is in the cache buffer can be an issue. ...

First off, not sure if his system will post with your AM3 chip on his AM2+ board. So the CPU may be fine.
Sounds like to me the m/b didn't like it. Just to be clear, what speed is the memory?
AM2/AM2+/AM3 combo boards running AM3 chips don't always like to play nice with some memory configs.. The memory really needs to be ...

Performance gain difference is going to be very slight when working with a RAID 5 setup. Technically, with 3 drives you will have 16x3 or 32x3 if you had the larger cache drive. The thing is, since you are laying down stripes, the system will run on the average 1.5 to 2 times faster than it will on a single drive. (keep in mind, ...

I was simply pointing them into one that they can choose for their price range of 700-750. Things to consider with cheaper laptops/netbooks:
Less RAM.
Less Processor.
Smaller HDD.
Netbooks have no CD/DVD drive. Some come with Linux, others with XP, and they all have small keyboards, small screens, and 8-12 hours run time.

I have you covered. lol
Asus laptops.
Pluses:
2 year manufacturer warranty standard.
1 year accidental damage coverage standard (one shot only) You can run over it with your car and they will fix it.
Fed Ex overnight both ways during the whole warranty period.
2 business day turn around in their repair center.
Laptop carry bag ...

Keep it warm, or keep it cooler? lol Yes, I would think 6 fans will be adequate. Biggest thing is to make sure your wire layout is clean (tidy) so the airflow is at its best.

Why not buy another one like it? If it worked that well for you. That is what I would do, especially if it lasted years. NewEgg might have them here even, haven't looked, but you can.

The only thing I will caution you on, is make sure your HP motherboard will allow you to use standard case connectors for the front USB ports, sound connections and switches/lights. Many of the large OEM's, (like HP and especially Dell) will make their stuff proprietary, along with their PSU's, meaning you can't just swap them into a ...
