• Re: Thoughts on recent Sci-fi entertainment

I agree with u on that sjr...enslavement doesnt make sense. I think humans as food or the taking the planet itself are far more better reasons for killing all humans. But, in my personal belief, I think exploration and contact are a more likely reason for a visit. Just like why I think humans would jump at the idea of traveling to other systems if ...

  • Re: Thoughts on recent Sci-fi entertainment

I have to disagree with your assessment on ''if'' aliens came to Earth sjr. I find it far more likely that if an alien species were to want to enslave/exterminate another race, they would do it under the cover of peace. A war, even an extermination, would require resources and can get messy. And being that the distances between systems are so ...

yes it is back...and it's not too bad. I was a huge Stargate fan, but SG.U has already lost me. For the most part, because I still watch half of the episode to see if the show gets better. It is just too dark and dramatic for my taste. I don't like the direction of it so far.

  • Thoughts on recent Sci-fi entertainment

I just saw 2012, and even though I don't buy in to the whole ''2012'', I have to admit Roland Emmerich is the KING of catastrophe. With movies like Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow, Emmerich has created a completely new genre for film making - global disasters. I was thrown off with the timing of the release though. Why didn't he make ...

  • Re: Windows 7 question(s)

I hadn't really tried to hibernate until just now. I thought I had the same problem for a minute, but all I had to do was press my power button once - not holding it down - and it resumed operations from where it left off. It wouldn't wake from keyboard interaction or mouse movement. I am sure I could have the computer wake from hibernation, like ...

Joe88:it seems to be linked with windows 7 since vista was working fine with hibernation mode for the last couple of days it has been working fine with hide task bar off, so maybe that was the problem... I am looking at your RAM and see only 2GB installed. • Re: Windows 7 question(s)

Most hibernation problems occur because of this. Does the 'beta' mean anything for the BIOS? You might try to use the previous version.

  • Re: Windows 7 question(s)

Joe88:the wake up problem from what ive searched seems to be wide spread alot of users are having problems with it, most have their computers never wakes up or displays anything That's because nobody knows how to do a proper installation...you must always, always flash your BIOS - regardless of a newer release - before a clean ...

  • Re: 32 vs 64 bit

the good thing is that 32 bit programs still run in a 64 bit environment. For the programs that do run 64 bit, and with it goes mainstream, I will be prepared. Yet, I can continue to run 32 bit programs till then. That 1 gig is a big difference as well. Especially if you are running a virtual machine and like a fifteen other programs at once.

  • Re: What Windows 7 do I need?

I would be happy to get ride of the Gateway extras...no offense. (Clean install all the way.) When Vista came out, and I used it for awhile, I could not bring myself to tell people to pay full price for the OS. YET, I love the Vista Shell. So, I didn't hate it. But, Win7 will be the dominate Windows OS for - at least - the next 10 years. I have ...

  • Re: Let's get 64-bit sorted out before we think ab

I really like Win7. Everything that worked with Vista is working just as well with Win7. I wasn't expecting to like the new task bar, but surprisingly it is really nice - now my desktop is clear of many program shortcuts. I have yet to give power shell a try, but really CLI is just CLI. I am also running the 64bit verison of Win7, yet ...

  • Re: Let's get 64-bit sorted out before we think ab

I expect businesses to just stick with 32 and 64 bit servers, because if there is a case that they need (or use) more a powerful architecture then it is more likely they will just use a mainframe.

  • ADSL v. Carrier Pigeon

Bob Evan's - Global CIO: A carrier pigeon thrashed a local ASDL service in transporting 4 gigabytes of data 60 miles in a South African showdown watched by several billion (well, actually, a few hundred) people around the world on Facebook and Twitter. In the two hours it took the pigeon to deliver its memory-stick payload, the ASDL service ...
