Hope you got S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat, b/c thats the only game that's going to utilize it currently.
As you can see, there's a couple choice titles coming downt he road, but come on, is this enough to flip. ...

IMO, with those particular Crucial sticks being fairly reliable, I would suggest there's something else amiss, like settings, or driver issue.
If you have access to another DDR2 machine, best bet is to test them out, else you'll be sending back kit after kit.

Your mobo is one board known for having a host of issues. PCIE slots being one of them, which I recall of the top of my head, reading time and again issues with slots and driver retention. IMO, while most get the issues from the get go, your board at least delivered for a whole before going ASUS on you.
Test the 8800GTS in another box, if ...

Welcome to the world of Compaq/HPs man. You should give us the model number on the model series, before the inner ID numbers, b/c its easier, but its cool, no matter what, it's one of them older goldish brown OEM boards for sure. I gots a stack of'm in a closet somehweres/ lol.

That CPU is seriously for Extreme cooling blow out OCing fanatics, the utility of it in a non-Oc'd system is absolute zero.
A 920 can be literally Oc'd to the 975 speed with little to no voltage increase, basically providing the same performance, for $700 less.
The Extreme's key feature is an unlocked Xer, and since you state no OCing, there's ...

A30N: TSMC (who also manufactures nVidia's GPU's as well) is having problems with their new machines, so they can't make very many of them until the issue is resolved. I agree it's TSMC production tha's the issue, I believe I've read that the more direct issue lies in them not making enough workable 40nm fabs. And in most cases, when they ...

i wouldn't cross popularity up with scarcity. One the one side, yeh, the Q6600 was one of the best fanfav clockers to come out, but its certainly not as fast as some of the newer dies available now. BUT, on the otherhand, if one soon finds themselves in need of a replacement, and it happens, seller owning them know they can pretty much hold a ...

On the 920 v. 860, I said personally, b/c I'd overclock and the 920 will go faster on stock voltage, plus with the PCIE controler off die, it's a bit easer with stability on the OC, but you hadn't written what you're primary uses were, so I guess with a 4350, gaming may nt be one of them, making the 860 a fine choice.

No upfront basis to determine whether Gold is better than Blade, or vis-a-vis. Really have to give the speed and timings.
But, I can tell you, from my handling Gold and Platinum on X58 and getting it to spec, is tedious in pumping voltage and setting the timings. Blade I can't speak about, never had it.
Want some good advice, get some Corsair ...

You go all the features off that should be, like Speedstep, et al, them things that'll toss an OC right off?
Sort f not clear, you've been OCing prior to now, and it's all of suddden problematic? Or this is a new initial attempt to OC? Major differences, as you may very well know.

Don't know if I would have gotten a 750W PSU for a HD4550, a 400W Crosair would have run this system fine and saved yah , what, $60, but hey, if you plan to upgrade that GPU later.
The rest looks fine. Though, even for a non-game higher end app use, I may have still considered the i7 920, but only because you're spending so muh ...
