The biggest factor between those cards will be what game you're going to play (given the difference is still marginal). Some games run better on Nvidia cards while others prefer ATI. If there are some high profile games you're interested in check out the performance charts of each card and see how they perform in those games. If ...

I'd also recommend checking out the pc build guide in the forum when you get the parts in and start building. It is a very good, detailed guide for first time builders. Just take your time and most importantly read the instructions carefully for your cpu and motherboard.

^ Thanks! For the price there was absolutely no question about it! I'm not partial to Nvidia or AMD as I've owned multiple cards from both over the years but right now the 4870 is the reigning king of price/performance and XFX has a great reputation.

^ Thanks I was at a sweet beach front condo with a group of gaming buds having a lan party. One of the best trips I've ever been on. While we were there we had warm weather one day (played football on the beach) and then it snowed the next day (hung out in the hot tub!) It was incredible.
