Applause [app] How to install a 775 processor (Video)

Below is a detailed video for those who has never installed any 775 processor before. It is not only an installation guide, it also provides tips on checking the mobo socket and the processor upon its arrival. (tho it is a little bit old vid, but for all type 775) enjoy

This is incredibly useful since I've been out of date with processor installs for almost a decade now. I can't believe how easy it has become!

Re: How to install a 775 processor (Video)

If it the type thats already stuck on the cooler, why not just use a razor blade to scrape it off?

What's up! someone else from the capitol city! You can use a razor blade, but I would still use Thermal surface purifier after taking it off. Retail stores like compUSA or Fry's sell little kits that include a thermal compund remover (rubbing alcohol, I think) and then a surface purifier. then there's a good link on eggxpert's front page about putting new thermal goo on.

    Good luck!

Re: How to install a 775 processor (Video)

Man all I have to say, is if you are watching this vid... buy an after market CPU cooler.. I've never seen anything made so stupid in my entire life. They sell us a $300 or hell it was $500 not so long ago quad core CPU.. Then package it was a pile of dog turd CPU cooler.

Not saying anything bad about newegg as it's not their fault Intel  are morons. I'm seriously afraid that this CPU cooler is going to fall off the mother board and land on my video card. That's how bad of a design it is IMO.

I didn't buy an aftermarket CPU cooler because I wanted to get my new system set up, then figure how much room I was going to have. Man BIG mistake that was.  Man I seriously can't believe how bad of a design this is.

    grrrrrrr sorry had to vent..

Nice one! This stuff is mostly common sense, but its nice to watch that before my chip gets here so i don't make any *really* stupid mistakes ;)

Re: How to install a 775 processor (Video)

Hmm, this does make it seem pretty simple. I have a question, however, what if we bought that Arctic thermal paste. How would that fit into the equation?

    Thanks!

Re: How to install a 775 processor (Video)

Great! Very informative video, but what would be great is if you had posted a video on how to apply thermal paste (probably my only issue right now).
