Re: First time building, help please :)
Yeah, this guy knows what he's doing. 'high end' motherboards by OuterVision's definition are ones with 32 PCIe lanes on the chipset like Intel X58 and AMD 990FX. Possibly also really baroque stuff like Asus' RoG boards or WS models There's not a lot of reason to use that setting with a modern hardware selection. GPU power consumption is going to completely swamp the difference unless you're just throwing money away on the motherboard.

Re: Computer build, help please
u don't need the 2600K for gaming,,drop that down to the 2500K,,,,,
PSU,,, not needing 700w,,,suggest to change to Seasonic 520w
i would replace the RAM with some Corsair Vengence lo-profile ( 1.5v ),,,,,
if ur gonna overclock the chip u will be needing and aftermarket HSF such as the CM Hyper 212 EVO,,, and that RAM with the tall heatspreaders may interfere with the cooler,,,
rest is good to go,,
good luck with ur build

Re: Computer build, help please
why in gods green earth would u wanna XFire 2 of those cards,,r u running a drive-in theater with a 50ft screen??,, there really is no need to XFire that card,,, and in error i told u the Seasonic 520,, for some unknown reason other than a brain f@rt, i hooked u up with a PSU that would run the 7850 ,,,if ur just gonna run that one card,,,and that is advisable,,,then check out the PC P&Cooling 600w,, if u insist on XFire ur gonna need a good 750-800w PSU,, again look into PC P&Cooling, their bigger PSUs have a 7 year warrenty and can put out more than the rated wattage in all the reviews i've seen on them,,,
good luck with ur build

Re: Computer build, help please
Me agrees with Mr. Fatboy HD PhD. If you wanna Xfire, go with a Corsair Enthusiast / Pro series or PC P&C if they have a good deal now. If not, the Seasonic 520W for this system or 620W if you want some extra, for an extra room for a future single graphics upgrade to like $600+ grpahics.

Re: Computer build, help please
CExpert:
as far as GPUs and video games r concerned,, u need to look for AMD or nVidia according to the games u usually play,,,some games the advantage goes to AMD/ATI, and some games take better advantage of iNvidia,,,
as far as the PSU goes,,why would OP want to buy an inferior PSU with a 3 year warrenty, when he can get a good quality PSU with a 5 or 7 year warrenty, made with much better components for almost the same money,,,,someone needs to explain that one to me
good luck with ur build
