    First build for video editing

I plan on using this comp to edit videos for weddings and whatnot.

I spent a lot of time making sure everything is compatible, but I'm just not sure if I am limiting performance in any ways or am getting the best bang for my buck. I'm at about $700 and I'd like to keep it as close to that as I can.

I'm on a bit of a budget for now and plan on adding 1 or 2 more hard drives and possibly a blu-ray burner later on.

    I don't plan on overclocking, but maybe I should? I don't know.

    I would appreciate any recommendations.

Compatible except the RAM. That triple channel RAM (3 x 4GB) is made for the Intel X58 system.

For this, you wanna go with a dual channel kit or kits.

    So either:

    2 x 4GB = 8GB,

    2 x 8GB = 16GB,

    2 sets of 2 x 4GB = 16GB

    4 x 4GB = 16GB,

    or

    2 x 4GB PLUS 2 x 2GB for 12GB.

DDR3 1600 and 1.5V (not 1.65V) is the sweet spot to shoot right now, for instance these.

The Antec BP PSU is not a bad PSU at all. But if you want something sturdy for a long-term, I'd go with the Seasonic 520W which should come out to be able the same price after the shipping charges of the two PSUs are considered.  Just me. Stick out tongue

Re: First build for video editing

    Thanks.

I found this power supply, which is  $54 with a promo code:   http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182131

and I got this RAM:  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231402

it's DDR3 1333 instead of 1600, but the latency is 7 instead of 9. Is that the right way to go?

Also, if I got this RAM now, could I get two more sticks later at 1600?

Again, your help is much appreciated.
