    Music [8] .:AnimeAMAZE:. Radio

    Hey Everyone.

I run the Internet Radio Station, .:AnimeAMAZE:., and I was wondering if anyone here would like to tune in and give me your opinion?  It is non stop Anime Music and Commercial Free!It is accesible all around the world!  Japan is tuned in a lot of times, but we have reached many other contries as well making us number 1 Anime Radio Station on Audiorealm!  We have also won awards from many sites including Editors Choice and Top Rated Show awards from Radio Free Tribeca!

Certainly There are live shows as well by me, Mr. Sir.  I will be doing one on Friday around 9:00PM EST.  Show details are in GC/OC (look at sig links) and It should be a cool fun show as all of them are.

If you would like to tune in, You can using the main site http://animeamaze.neomrsir.com or use direct link to our world wide server located at http://funcaptain.dyndns.org:8005/listen.pls

If there is anything I can improve on, please let me know, I am always welcome to constructive criticism and I would love to have some feedback!

    Thanks!

Nice! It's very expensive to run an Internet radio station, how do you manage? It always seems like JapanAradio is barely able to scrape buy even though they have membership and donation plans going on..

    Re: .:AnimeAMAZE:. Radio

It is expensive and not too easy. Buying the CD's was the worst part imo.   This is how I am able to run it well and be safe

-886k upload on my DSL connection.

-I am streaming to a free icecast2 server thanks to Radio Free Tribeca and one of my friends offered to host it on his FIOS connection and he gets about 5mb upload. I was able to set up a 20 slot server.  Certainly I can run a AAC 64k server on my home connection, but then things get really tight and the most listeners I would see is 7.  Having 2 128k streams is pretty lucky.

-I have an old AMD 2400+ running at 2GHz and has 1GB of ram and its running the station 24/7.  Last time it was restarted was 15 days ago so even running windows, its pretty stable.  The idea to running a computer nonstop is, no other apps.  Just needed stuff, only put what PCI/AGP cards needed into it, put in quiet fans, low wattage power supply, don't use the computer for anything else but the broadcast software and a nice size hard drive thats not too loud.

-Affordable webhosting is a must.  If you noticed...the site is on a subdomain from my website and that subdomain then links to a free hosting plan I like to donate to as much as I can to show my thanks.

-GC/OC has helped out so much.  They are another reason why things are going well.

    -Licences are taken care of.

What is different about Japan-A-Radio is that they are thorugh Live365 which they pay for everything on a monthly basis and they have so much.  They are great and I must say I was inspired by them a bit, but when I started out 2 years ago, live365 wasway to expensive so I hosted it here on my home connection.  Certainly we are asking for Donations, but they are not needed too badly yet. I put up a Music OnDemand system on the main site, one is free and there is a premium one which is enabled only for people who donate a certain amount.  It could help out a bit.

That is how I am able to run it.

Nice job with that, I've only been listening for like 2 mins but I love it so far. I give you 5 eggs (if that works) just for the idea and clear sound. gl with it. I feel like jumping up and down now that's what anime music does to me. Big Smile

    Re: .:AnimeAMAZE:. Radio

Thank you everyone  I will keep up the work and continue to improve it.  Most people love the fact of commercial free music.  I took a poll and everyone said thats what they loved the most about it (lol).  It took me a while to fool around with the filters to get it sounding clear but I managed.  I use SAM4 and it sure is powerful.

On June 19th we will be celebrating the release of Galaxy Angel AA Vol. 1 so its going to be non stop Galaxy Angel Music for 24 hours.  I am not even going to play the station ID's.  Just Pure GA music all day.  Since I have most of a albums and rare stuff, it will be easy to fill in a whole day!  If you feel like tuning in then, Please do by all means!  I may make a live appearance if I am around.  Big Smile

Thank you once again everyone for tuning in and checking it out!

    Re: .:AnimeAMAZE:. Radio

so whats the difference between the shoutcast and the icecast2 servers?

  •  06-01-2007, 10:38 AM 68294 in reply to 66996

    Re: .:AnimeAMAZE:. Radio

Not much really.  They are both 128kb MP3 and they are all the same thing.  I guess one URL is longer than the other,Icecast2 may work better with Linux media players and other such media players since the mount point is just a .mp3 extension.  Shoutcast is a listen.pls file.  Also the Icecast2 server is supposed to have 48khz instead of 44.1 but for some reason it does not show up like that.  But Tribeca offered us a mountpoint so I will use it.  It will also be nice to have when we start reaching our peak listener count again so people can connect to that oneif the shoutcast is full.

    Re: .:AnimeAMAZE:. Radio

so i see the servers updated and now i cant use the shoutcast server becaus its a .pls file/link

  •  06-01-2007, 5:24 PM 68644 in reply to 68427

    Re: .:AnimeAMAZE:. Radio

Its supposed to be a pls file.  If you have winamp, wmp, or any other player, you should be able to click add or open URL and type in http://funcaptain.dyndns.org:8005 and that should start playing automatically.  The listen.pls file is supposed to open the appropriate media player and it should really work each way.  If the shoutcast is giving you trouble though, the icecast servers link is http://ripper.tribeca.net:8000/home/arts/.animeamaze.mp3.  All you need to do is copy that link, click open url and paste it in, and you should be all set.

Then again there is the webplayer on the website that always works unless the server is down.  My internet was going nuts all day so that may be why things were weird.

Some of the listeners on GC/OC had some problems with firewalls.  They had to allow the address to their whitelist and such.  But the listen.pls file should work either way if it doesnt use the media players open URL function and type in one of those addresses.

    Re: .:AnimeAMAZE:. Radio

the icecast2 server works but not the shout cast, since it changed form a .mp3 link to a .pls link

    Re: .:AnimeAMAZE:. Radio

Ok.  Here is what my host said...well In a nutshell.

    Email From host:

"The server has not been updated and the extension was never mp3.  It was always a listen.pls file.  when you open the URL in your media player, assuming you are typing in the URL, do not add  the listen.pls at the end, just type in the address and port.  If you click a link on the website though, the downloaded file (listen.pls) will open in winamp, iTunes, Real, foobar2000 or QCD and play the stream that way because the playlist file points it to the URL and port that you would have typed in.  If there are connection problems, we can look further but seeing there are listeners connecting just fine, it could be a firewall issue on the listeners side..."

I'm sorry it is not much help, but I am not sure I can do anything. The servers are in NY and I am in VT. The only thing I can say is since the shoutcastis giving you trouble, the icecast may be the way for you to go.  I know some people have issues with shoutcast which is why its nice to have the icecast2 server here to help out.

Sorry I can't be of much help

    Re: .:AnimeAMAZE:. Radio

well all i know is the other day it used to be a .mp3 file and i could click on it and it would open in mediaplayer 11 and now it is .pls and it wont open in mediaplayer 11. o well thx anyways

    Re: .:AnimeAMAZE:. Radio

You mean when you double-click on it? You need to go into Windows Media Player and associate it with the .pls filename (it's in the options, file associations).. Then when you double-click on a pls it will open in WMP.  Another thing you could do is right-click on the file, and choose "Open With...." and then select browse.. Then select Windows Media player.. The pls can also be opened in WinAmp, VLC Media player, and iTunes..

Yea I listen to this station a lot now. I kind of made a bad mistake of telling my friend about it and he requested like a million songs. All of the songs playing for a while said ~requested~. Lol.
