    AC97 front panel audio cable question?

     Now before someone says read the manual. I'd like to say I

    have and thats what caused my problem. In october I purchased

    a NZXT m59 case and ASUS M4A78T-E Mobo from Newegg

    and I'm really pleased with both.Now heres my problem.

    The ASUS manual shows the following pinout for AC97.

      PIN

        1=Mic2

         2=Agnd

         3 =Micpwr

         4=NC

         5=Lineout_right

         6=NC

          7=NC

           8=No Pin

            9=Lineout_left

            10=NC

    The NZXT cable has the same layout except it has straps from

    pin5 to pin 6 and from pin 9 to pin 10.My concern is for the

    Mobo which says NC on pins 6 &10 and I sure dont want to

    damage it.Now heres the question,should these straps be cut or

    or do they serve some purpose ASUS is not telling me about?

    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Re: AC97 front panel audio cable question?

    They're likely grounding wires. You need them for it to work, so don't cut anything. That's how its supposed to be, so don't worry about damaging anything.
