    video card help

I'm running a Sapphire toxic 3870. I had it paired up with an HIS 3850 IceQ in crossfire but the 3850 died and the 3870 has started running hotter than I like or ever seen it like 93 C. I don't overclock cause the most demanding games I play are GTR2 and COD games. Am looking at a XFX HD 477A. That is about my price range. Would I see a noticeable difference.

    Re: video card help

Well certainly your temps would be a lot better..

But keep in mind, these graphics cards blow so much air through them that you need to take a can of compressed air to them every 8 months or so to make sure the fan and the heatsink doesn't get clogged with dust..  The more air you push, the more dust that will get into your hardware, the more dust you get into the hardware, the hotter it will run since the heatsink will have less contact area, the hotter it runs the faster the fan will spin to compensate and the more air it will push.. Very quickly spirals out of control if you don't keep up the maintenance.

    Onboard RAID vs. 3Ware RAID

I never recommend people run RAID-5 with onboard chipsets.

I clean it out monthly with the compressed air. Just got done taking the cpu out and cleaning it and putting new artic thermal compound on it.
