Help building my sons new gaming pc

I have picked out the following on the new egg website but before I finalize I would like someone else to look it over and let me know if this will work.

He has a BFG 550 watt power supply and 9800 GT Nvidia video card

The following is my hardwork research:

    MoBo - ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3 AMD 790xATX AMD

Processor - AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE

    RAM - Corsair XMS3 4GB(2 x 2GB)

Hard Drive - Western Digital  Cavier Black 7200 RPM SATA 3.0GB internal

    CD/DVD - Sony Optiarc 24x Cd/DVD rewrittable

    My questions-

    1.) Will this work?

    2.) Am I missing anything?

FYI He plays WoW and Aion

Thanks a smart mom who feels really stupid after this endeavor LOL

    2.)

Cooler - Arctic Cooling freezer 64 Pro 92mm

    Case -Cooling Master RC-690-KKN1

You messed up in only one place and thats not bad.

You selected ddr2 ram when you need ddr3 ram. Just look for the same ram you got but only in ddr3 1600.

Though I am not a fan of asus boards would prefer to see people use gigabyte boards you can do what you want.

Thanks for the quick reply. Why gigabyte vs. asus?  And if you care to share what gigabyte board would you recomend?

Well since I don't know the part numbers of all the ram and you didn't have links I made an assumption and guess I was wrong.

This Gigabyte board is what I would get

Re: Help building my sons new gaming pc

Your picks will work nicely just get the correct RAM.  I finished a similar build last night at 2 a.m. Here's what I put in it:

    Board - ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3

    CPU - Phenom II X4 955 BE

    RAM - G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600

Case - Antec Nine Hundred Two

PSU - Antec TruePower New TP-750 750W Continuous Power

HDD - Western Digital Cavier Black 1TB

    OS - Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

I used an EVGA 9600 GT, an Auzentech Prelude X-Fi 7.1 Sound Card, a Netgear Wireless adapter, and a CD/DVD from my current HP PC with this new build. The monitor, keyborad, mouse, and 2.1 speakers also were used from my current PC.  A have not had a chance to really play around with it much but I love it so far.  Just do your homework to make sure everything you get is compatible.  The brands people pick are mostly personal preference.  There are some differences among the brands so read the specs and as many reviews as you can stand.
