Having a problem installing a 4-port SATA RAID car

I'm trying to install this card

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816132017

I can't get past the driver install.  I use the found new hardware wizard, it finds the driver but then hangs up on the file suilsupp.cpl.  Anyone have any idea how I can fix this??

Define "hangs up". You mean the whole system locks up?  Blue Screen? Install fails? Can't find the hardware?

Did you try a different PCI slot?

    Onboard RAID vs. 3Ware RAID

I never recommend people run RAID-5 with onboard chipsets.

Had to create a new username, had password problems.

The computer doesn't exactly freeze, it just tries to copy that file for hours.  The install dialog box is up with the status bar and the picture of the file flying from one folder to the other and it says "copying silspp.cpl" for hours.

My computer -> right click on the hard drive that you have windows installed on -> properties -> tools -> Scandisk -> Check the top checkbox -> Apply/ok-> reboot.

    Weird issue, what causes it?

    I happily buy tech! Why wouldn't I?

It was a shot in the dark, but I guessed corrupted file allocation table.. It creates situations where the blocks that store the data can get out of sync with the table that says where that data in the file is stored on the hard drive..Even if the data blocks themselves aren't corrupted, the OS may have troubles finding all the pieces of the file in that situation..
