    Question about graphics card compatibility.

I've been looking at different graphics cards for the past few days, and have found one that seems promising. However, I'm not exactly sure if it's even compatible with my computer.

Here are the specs of the computer model I intend to upgrade: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00389443&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us〈=en&product=471645

Here is the graphics card I am looking at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130509

I am fairly sure that these two are usable together, but I don't want to buy the card just to find out that it doesn't work, otherwise i'd have bought an $80 graphics card for nothing. My current graphics card is slowly dying, hence the reason to buy a new one.

If someone could take the time to help me out here, then it'd be much appreciated.

Re: Question about graphics card compatibility.

Ok answer me this do you see in the below stuff pci express slot

    Expansion slots
    Slot typeQuantity
    PCIThree (two available)
    AGPOne (available)
    DIMM Two (one available)

I don't. You need an AGP graphics card not a pci express graphics card. So imo its a major waste of money to spend anything on this comp as agp has been long dead and actually is a poor performance. I would save your money and either buy or build a new comp as you have a really old machine that is not worth spending any money on.

    Just my thoughts

Re: Question about graphics card compatibility.

Well, I really have no idea about how to approach upgrading computers, so I just kinda picked a graphics card.

I was considering buying a new computer, but going to see if an upgrade was possible. Then again, with Windows 7 out now, it's all the more reason to just buy a new computer. Meh, I got five good years out of this thing, thanks for your advice.

If anyone else has suggestions, feel free to express them.
