    Any opinions?

Suggestions or opinions on the system below. This is my first build and am trying to avoid conflicts.

Your Wish List came up "This wish list is empty."

How to create a public wishlist [guide]

    That should help a bit.

    That one worked.

To start with, most of the 1156 motherboards use memory that run at 1.65 volts. The 1.5 is a little bit low on the power. Here are 3 DDR3 1333MHz. memory that is built for the 1156 motherboards. Of these I'm showing you, the OCZ Platinum for $97.99 would be the best with their good timings of 7-7-7-20. OCZ is on the Gigabyte memory support as a company.

Now your power supply, even though it is an Antec, is not a good choice. Most of us here at Eggxpert try to use the Eggxpert Tiered Power Supply List and try to stick to tiers 1 or 2. Those are the best power supplies. Remember you will need a power supply with an 8-Pin CPU power connection to the motherboard. Not all of the power supplies have that so you'll need to look carefully at the specs.

Other than those changes, it looks like a pretty good start.

What case are you using and what operating system?

Thanks for your reply and insight.

Case is from my current computer, a Chieftec ATX 601AE-CMU. Plan on loading Win7. Have it on a laptop and like it so far.

    Re: Any opinions?

I went hunting for your Chieftec case on their website. But didn't find it. They must not make it anymore. With running the i5 750 you'll want good cooling in the case. The minimum would be 2 120mm case fans. 1 mounted in front for air intake and 1 mounted in back for air exhaust. Those are minimums. The most common Mid-Tower case for building current Intel systems in is the COOLER MASTER HAF 922 or the COOLER MASTER Storm Scout. Each would cost you $99.99 plus shipping.

I'm also running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on my desktop computer. The OEM version of Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit will cost you $106.99 with free shipping.

    Re: Any opinions?

Ya, my Chieftec is from 2002 and has one fan in front and two in the rear. Should provide enough cooling.

    Thanks again for you help.

    Re: Any opinions?

n0lxx, you wrote of needing an 8 pin CPU power conector for the motherboard as well, which I now realize. However, I'm having trouble finding a power supply with the 24 pin and an 8 pin, unless I'm not reading the specs. correctly. What should I be looking for in the specs to insure the correct cabling.

     Any Ideas?

The 24-Pin main power connection can be stated in 2 different forms. Either 24-Pin or 20+4-Pin.

The 8-Pin CPU power connection can be stated as either a straight 8-Pin of 4+4-Pin.

Here is one of the cheaper tier 2 power supplies with both connections covered: OCZ StealthXStream OCZ600SXS 600W
