    ATI 9250 vs On Board HD3300 (790GX)

Just built a new system with the Asus M4A78T-E mobo. The mobo has the on board HD3300 GPU. I am not a gamer at all but I do have an old power color ATI 9250 on hand that is not being used. I don't undersdtand much about all the video card options. My question is if it is worth it for me to install the 9250 and disable the onboard video?

One thing I noticed is that my hard drive makes a little noise when I am watching streaming video. This seems to be the only time I hear it for example when I am watching youtube videos. I am not sure why yet. In other words, I am not sure if it is hitting my page file or what but I don;t think so. I think it is something else. My system is extremely under utilized since again I am not a gamer.

So my big question is will the 9250 give me better performance than the HD3300? Should I go ahead and invest in something a little better? I am not so sure I need anything at all since I'm not gaming anyway but hey, since I have the 9250 on hand I would drop it in if its better than the on board video?

Please, any insight, suggestions or point in the right direction to figure it out on my own?

    Thanks in advance.

And our question to you is this what are you trying to improve if anything.

As for the HDD that is normal anytime you access the internet it well in basic terms ends up on your HDD. So yes that is normal.

You will not be able to use the 9250 as it is AGP only.  If you wish to use a video card with your motherboard, it looks like you will need to get a PCI-E video card.

Yes, I have the PCI version Power Color ATI 9250.  Thats just it, not sure there is anything that it will improve? Will I get better video quality or overall PC performance? Considering I'm not a gamer just light graphics design and video entertainment.

Regarding the hard drive chatter, it just seems interesting to me that the only time it does it is when streaming video for example youtube videos. I shouldn't really call it chatter because It sounds like it is jumping not just normal chatter. Its like a few big jumps/clicks with little to no constant activity.

Not to change the subject (for another post) I'm still trying to figure out what the performance monitor values mean.

Nope that will not help that much really.

Look at your internet temp files.
