Anybody have any news on a release date for the 5870x2
I kept hearing late October and now it's November... just curious. I haven't even seen the 5870's in stock lately either though
The 5870x2 is actually going to be called the "5970", AMD is dropping the "X2" from the name to be more in line with nvidia like the GTX 295 has 2 GPUs in it.. It's less confusing that way, where the second digit in the model is the performance grade where 0 is entry level and 9 is as fast as you can get for that generation..
When will it be out? It'll be out before the end of November, which is when nvidia will roll out their Fermi based GTX 380.

Fermi and HD 5970 HA, Let's keep a tab on these.
Thanks Sid for the info. Okay, let's keep waiting.

Oh come on now, I've got a mini-Tower that's 6 years old with a removable drive bay.. It's so old that it doesn't even take the brass stand-offs that became standardized for ATX cases and uses little metal grounding clips to hold the motherboard on.. Pop that hard drive bay out of there, move the hard drives up into any of the 3 main 5.25" drive bays and it'll take a pair of 5970s no problem..
