So, this is the first time I am putting together my own machine. I just finished assembling everything, turn it on, and get no video signal. I have a Tyan S7025 motherboard, there is a green light blinking on the lower left of the board. The CPU fan is plugged into the board, and it is rotating, so I know that power is getting to the motherboard. I have the monitor plugged into the COM port on the back, and am using a wireles keyboard and mouse. When I turn the machine on, with the power switch, all the fans start up,

1)How do I know that the keyboard/mouse are connecting to the computer?

2) How do I do diagnostics to determine why I am not getting any video signal?

 it could be many things at this point. First thing we would do is look at all the parts, and see if they're GTG, and then process, but all we know right now is the mobo. CPU? GPU, PSU, RAM? Throw us some info man .............................

I really hope you mean that its plugged into the VGA port rather than the serial / com port. 

Have you tried one stick of RAM at a time?

You have 24 pin connectors plugged in?  the 8 pin CPU connectors?

Did you put stand-offs down (good) instead of screwing it directly into the case (bad)?

Also, did you plug in the 8-pin CPU power connector?

Edit: Looks like you might have picked the wrong CPU.. It looks like the only CPUs these Tyan dual-CPU boards support are Xeon series CPUs.

There's a reason why these motherboards are listed under "server motherboards" and that's because you need to pick "server CPUs" to go with them..  And sometimes even "server RAM" aka "ECC RAM" to go with them. Though now that Intel has the memory controller inside of the CPU, I suppose it's possible that, like AMD's server series, they do not require registered memory anymore. Edit: looks like Tyan's specs page says UDIMM or RDIMM support so either registered (server) or unregistered (desktop) memory should work.
