Usually CPU's don't go bad unless you overvolt them or short them out.. They're quite durable, a bad CPU is quite rare.. Certainly a bad CPU is one of the absolute last things I suspect with that problem..

Did you try it with one stick of RAM? Try clearing the CMOS? Try it outside of the case on a non-conductive surface to be sure you're not shorting out in the case? What make/model PSU do you have? Are you using enough stand-offs so the board isn't sagging?

I never recommend people run RAID-5 with onboard chipsets.

are you able to get into the bios in any way? you may have to go in and check to see if the motherboard is using the correct voltage.. also check the cpu temps to see if they are correct.

if not then do you possibly have an older processor perferably am2 or am2+ processor? its quite possible you may have to boot up with that and update the bios on the board..

I doubt it's a bad CPU, I have installed several of these CPUs with no issue. We need details to help you, RAM, OS, other hardware, etc...

Should only attempt a BIOS update if you're 100% sure the system is stable..

Also, there might be a way to revive it..  Check your manual..  Some mobos have dual-BIOSs just in case such a thing happens.

Yea, with all the major board makers now supporting BIOS updates vie thumb drive there is no reason to even think of flahing within Windows again.
