Hello
I have an older e Machine (T 2628 ) that I am trying to recover. It runs XP and it was in sad shape when I got a hold of it. After I did all I could I see I need to run the recovery disk. First problem eMachine no longer offers a disk for this machine.Next I am going to do a clean install with a copy of xp from my computer.I go into the bio's to get it to boot from the disk and I can not get A +sign in front of the CD drive or remove the + from the other components.
I had hope the original recovery disk would simply load but when I could not get one I went into the bio's I found that I could not boot from the CD drive any way.
Am I done? Or is there A trick with the eMachines to get it to boot from the drive? I may get another disk from another eMachine and just try it to see if it works. As you can tell by now I am grabbing at straws.Even if I just am told how to get the bio's setting to work.I will have learned some thing.
My experience with repair is a c+.I do it for fun (Some fun). This one has me.I know how it is suppose to work,Just not this one.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Even if you people who play with this stuff of a living tell me it is a door stop.
Thank you John
