Connecting a Gateway Netbook to a LCD TV?

I am trying to connect my Gateway Netbook to the TV to be able to watch shows/movies/games etc. that are on the internet on my TV.  I resently bought the only cord I could find on NewEgg.com and I am pretty sure I bought the wrong one.  I bought a VGA to TV OUT S-VIDEO Adapter.  What I want is a VGA to Video Input (Yellow, Red and White ends).  Any idea if I can use the cord I bought or if there is another one I should get?  Also is there anything special I need  (program or drive) on my Netbook to allow me to show the videos on my TV?

Normaly you can only adapt that vga to component (Red, Green, Blue) not composite (Yellow). Beer

You could use a converter but they are not exactly cheap http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815158142&cm_re=vga_to_composite-_-15-158-142-_-Product

A lot of LCD TV's have a VGA port in the back. All HDTV's should have them and most likely standard definition as well. Check to see if yours has one.

That would work best. you just have to set your netbook to output to the VGA port and set the TV input on VGA or sometimes they call it Computer. I used my Vizio 32" HDTV as my monitor for a while just for the novelty of things.

Thank you for replying.  That is a little to pricey for what I am looking to do.  I checked and it looks like the TV does have a VGA input on the back so I am going to try that method first.
