Thinking of this Mod! Computer Desk with...

Thinking of making a computer desk with a see-thru glass. Making it around 3 feet wide and 2 feet wide.

The glass will have two or more Gas compressed door opener so it can open and upgrade with ease. Hopefully have a removable motherboard tray. That slides out from the side. More ideas to come.

Ill maybe post a picture of my idea some how.

    Suggestions?

It would be very difficult to do with glass but plexiglass would work well if you are careful with the cutting and drilling. You could use the plexiglass liquid bonding material that melts the pieces together for your box and then use the top with your gas operated openers to lift the top up for working on it, only problem is you would have to clear the desk top every time you need to work on it or you could use 4 actuators and lift it straight up or lower the box straight down.

I was thinking of a removable motherboard tray but that wouldn't work since the cable might come in the way. Maybe like you say something that lifts it down. but then  everything would have to be separate from the wooden table. The whole point is so the motherboard and the hard drive and everything would be in the table and can be seen. The only thing that would be on top would be the lcd screen and maybe a lcd module with temperatures, music file, or something of that sort.

No you would not have a wooden top, it would be solid plexiglass so you can see through it and the box for the computer would fit snug underneath the top then you drop it down to work on it and would not need a removable mobo tray though you could still do it. The front of the box would have your ODDs, floppy and card reader along with your switches and lights mounted there for turnning it off and on.

Got it! Don't know how ill do it but i got a idea.

The motherboard or metal box that contains the motherboard and everything comes out with a touch of a button forward. Then goes back in with a other touch of a button

Damn... I think i have to cross this whole project out. It be hard to move out of.

That sounds like it would work but build the box from plexiglass as well and mount draw slides on either side of the box with an actuator on each side that operate off the same switch so they both work at the same time. This idea would work best on an L shaped desk so that you could still put your keyboard on the same type slide system and you would not be confined by size as to how or what direction the mobo, PSU, ODDs, HDDs and card reader or floppy was mounted in the box other than access to the ODD and floppy or card reader set to the front of the box.
