    Vista help!

Hello, I guess bad things just have to happen to me, first my hard drive on my desktop dies =(, and now this.

Anyway, when I turn on my laptop, the wallpaper doesn't load, it's just greyish colour and my Documents folder pops up. There is no start button, clock or anything. I have to go to Task Manager and end the explorer.exe there and then restart another explorer.exe for everything to come back. Also now when I shut down I get this message:

    explorer.exe - Application Error

The instruction at 0x6ea81b2b referenced memory. The memory could not be read at 0x6ea81b2b . Click on OK to terminate the program.

What in the world does that mean?!

Sounds like the installation is corrupted or you have a virus.

    You run scans?

How old is the installation of windows?

    Re: Vista help!

Vista came with the notebook, recently updated to SP2.

AVG scans are run and Spybot, didn't find any viruses. Just randomly started happening.

How recently?  In any case, to replace explorer, find another computer that has a working explorer.exe for Vista. Copy it onto a flash drive or cd. Boot into safe mode or console mode and rename your explorer.exe and copy the one from the other computer and see if there is any difference.
