 I've been running a gaming i7 system since last December. And since then I have only been running 3GBS of corsair xms3 (at the time they were a whopping $118, now currently priced at roughly $70.)

 I'm tired of being at the absolute BARE minimum for no reason, and seeing as how running 6 gb's is the 'standard' for gaming, I don't see any reason not to upgrade my ram entirely. 

 However, I cant decide what 6 GB kit i should get. Here is what i have been looking at:

Looks very nice, very fast, (decently priced aswell) However it lacks the fan that the one below includes

Not quite as fast, and abit more expensive. But it includes a very nice looking fan, which may end up being helpful.

If you recommend another ram kit over these, I would appreciate it if you posted a link.

Here are some things about my setup:

I am currently overclocked on an i7 920 @ 3.2. It is being cooled by a Vigor Monsoon III (It is quite large, and I have heard that ram fans could have issues with aftermarket heatsinks)

On another note, (You can comment on this if you'd like) I may also purchase a single 5850 to replace my 4870. Than pick up a second 5850 in a couple months. But if there are rumors of a 5850x2 coming out, or.. if it is estimated the prices will drop considerably on the 5850 within a couple of months. Than i might just wait and buy two of them.. (I'm not anxious in getting a new gpu, I just don't see the reason in waiting 2-3 months if we aren't expecting a 5850x2 or lower prices)

Currently running on a 24inch Samsung at 1920x1200.

If you got the money, them kits are indeed great makes. In my expereince with these triple channel kits though, you won't get any greater performance from them than these CL8s, that can be pushed to 7 for much less. I haven't been too impressed with the ram fans, but you could get one seperate and still save a few bucks.

I wouldn't be too optimistic about a 5850X2 going down to anything reasonable for a while (especially since they're not even out yet, lol) , but if the 4850X2 arrangement remains the same, Sapphire will have exclusive selling rights to it and they'll be charging a premium for quite a while. It took quite a while before they really dropped the price on the 4850X2.

Things to consider.

But like I said, if you got the cash, what the heck , right? lol. I would be one to talk.

You are correct about the ram fans getting in the way of the CPU HSK&F at times and depending on the layout of the mobo but with that big of a HSK&F you really don't need the ram fan so I would agree with Penewab but the OCZ makes good ram too.

These look really fast, they aren't as expensive as they should be. and seem to be getting great reviews. I'll be running this kit with w7.

I bought this cheapy, budget ram when I was building the system, so I want a serious upgrade in performance/size.
