    Must Play PC Games

My first build is almost done and I'm looking for some games to play.  I'm planning on playing some crysis and COD, along with others but is there any games that you must play at least once.  I'm new to pc gaming so I'm open for anything. So let's hear em.

    Re: Must Play PC Games

I'm guessing you like shooters... Well, pre-order Modern Warfare 2, that new Batman game looks good, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is actually pretty fun, CoD: WaW is so~decent.

Sins of a Solar Empire is great, Civ. 4 is absurdly hard, Halo 1 is a classic, Halo 2 is pretty dang good, Sims 3 is super fun, Fallout 3 is incredible... The list goes on :P

I do love shooters.  I got modern warfare 2 pre-order and I'm so pumped, but I also played civ rev for the 360 and loved that.  I might give civ 4 a try or maybe some other turned based strategy games or RTS.  like i said I'm open for everything.

Okay you love shooters, then try Half-Life 2 it might be the best shooter ever. The story is very entertaining, the conversations between characters were well scripted, and the voice acting was great its got good sound & graphics dont need a top end card to play. well, its incredebly hard and challenging, which I like a lot D"

I second HL2, but throw in original HL, both sequels, and Portal.

Also, Fallout 3 is awesome. One of my favorites. I liked Doom 3, but it's more like old-school shooters were you just blow stuff up. Don't get me wrong; there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. It's just that the more modern shooters are more refined.

If you like sim games, Spore was good, though I've run into a lot of people who didn't like it.

Civ 4 is unholy hard, I barely won that. I completely stopped playing it when I put up a SHERMAN TANK against a GATLING GUN and lost. Complete c**p. It was some BS defense perk that was over the top high.

Try GTA: IV for the PC, it's a decent game at $20. I didn't like it, I'm way to used to the old-school blood shed of Vice City.

How can anyone not have listed FC2 in his thread yet!!???

Graphics are great, story is pretty good, screw the pansy levels, turn that baby onto Infamous and go.

Painkillers are fun, pretty funny, full of action. Havoc engine is cool. (New one coming soon!! Not sure if its havoc though.)

If you want something a little different, try Prototype, haven't got through it yet, but wow, mayhem galore. Run around a city mowing down zomnies like ants, LMAO. I must need therapy. lol

    Re: Must Play PC Games

    Command and Conquer 3

    Red Alert 3

    The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

    Supreme Commander

    Dawn of War 2

    Company of Heroes

    Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl - very buggy without patches and mods

Cryostasis - pacing is very slow so you might get bored but it's a great horror game if you have the patience.

Heroes of Might and Magic 5 - get the Tribes of the East stand alone expansion, it fixes pretty much all the bugs. It's a very addictive game.

Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2 - the campaigns aren't great but there are a lot of player created content you can get from the web.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2, 1 is great, 2 is good but incomplete

From what I hear, GTA IV is incredibly buggy.

There are also a lot of good old games:

    Baldur's Gate 1 and 2

    Icewind Dale 1 and 2

    Fallout 1 and 2

    Planescape: Torment

    Serious Sam

    Homeworld 1 and 2

Heroes of Might and Magic series

    Wizardry series

    Ground Control 1 and 2

L4D           its a great FPS, the 2nd one is coming out in a month or so.

Borderlands           Its a FPS/RPG, with over 500,000 weapons.Looks really cool.

Unreal tournament 3       one of my favorite FPS games, and you can get it for around 10.00$

Red faction:guerrilla     its fully destructable, looks like alot of fun

Call of duty 1:      It is classic.

Call of duty Modern Warfare 2.

    Prototype

    Battlefield 2:  $10

Great game, they just released a 1.5 version patch for it a month ago that fixed a lot of issues..   For 10 bucks, you can't go wrong with BF2..

Also, Ages of Empires III Complete Collection is a steal for what you get.  A few hundred hours of campaign playing in that package, multiplayer for AOE3 though I've found to be quite lacking compared to other offerings..

Ghostbusters just came out a few months ago and you can get it for 20 bucks now, compare that price to how much it'd cost you to play it on a console.. It's a gorgeous game and will require one heck of a graphics card setup, it brings my GTS 250 to it's knees like nothing, not that doing so is particularly difficult for any game though.  The PC version doesn't have multiplayer though.

    Onboard RAID vs. 3Ware RAID

I never recommend people run RAID-5 with onboard chipsets.

Lot of good games listed. I second all of Valve's games and Fallout 3 though. Also Oblivion.

    I happily buy tech! Why wouldn't I?
