    i pod

my son wants a video mp3 for christmas but all the mp3,s with big hard drives are way too expensive.  is there a type of mp3 that is cheap, but allows for upgradeable storage, a la an sd card?

    Yep,

Plenty of Flash memory MP3/Video players out there. Some do have expansion slots to add additinonal flash memory.

    Things to look for:

    -Decent name brand

    -Decent screen

    -Decent video file format support

NewEgg even has some, do a search.

I'd just go with a a smaller iPod or Zune. Upgrading flash cards would be expensive unless you plan on swapping out cards and never going for higher capacity.

    I happily buy tech! Why wouldn't I?

    Re: i pod

Alright, I was trying to teach this woman how to post in a forum (she's computer illiterate), and she refused to word it as I advised, which is what led to your confusion.  Of course, now that she knows HOW TO post, I guess I can take it from here.

I'm looking for a video MP3 so that I can download videos to it and show them to people whenever a computer is not available or convenient, rather than asking for their email and sending them the link later (or, maybe, they don't have very fast Internet, so the videos take forever to load).  However, I don't want to ever have to delete a video, in case I want to show it to someone, but I deleted it.  The only way to guarantee that I never run out of storage space like that is to have ugradable storage, a la an SD card.

So, when I'm shopping around, specifically, what spec tells me that the storage is upgradable like this?  And how do I narrow the search so that only MP3s that meet that spec are listed?

Is that a bit more clear than what my mother asked you?

    Something like this?

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16855150102

It uses micro sd cards and has a 4.3" screen for <$100

The best way to search is to go to the electronics section of Newegg  click on mp3 players, then the subsection on mp3/mp4 players.  pick a price range and or a screen size, then click the check boxes next to all the ones you are interested in and hit the "compare" button.  As you scan down the columns, there should be a line for flash memory.
