    CD and DVD preservation

Do you write on your CDs and DVDs...or do you use labels?

I know they have special markers for CDs and DVDs...do you use them?

Do you use LightScribe?  I guess you need "special" disks too...so I'm sure they stab you for those.

I'm kinda thinking: slap a label on and scribble away.

Good and bad, I define these terms
    Quite clear, no doubt, somehow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
    I'm younger than that now.

    Re: CD and DVD preservation

I used to do the sticky labels when CD-Rs and DVD-Rs were more than $1 each..  If I had a blu-ray burner today, I'd use sticky labels on my Blu-rays..

But now that CD-Rs and DVD-Rs are so cheap, I just take a sharpie to them and skip the label..

Lightscribe discs are WAY too expensive..  Nobody I know uses them extensively..

    Onboard RAID vs. 3Ware RAID

I never recommend people run RAID-5 with onboard chipsets.

    Re: CD and DVD preservation

i have ALWAYS used sharpie but once, the first time u used a label on it and it came off from all the spinning of the disk D= and almost made my burner to break, so from there, always sharpie!! (ultrafine)

Sharpie all the way.  I prefer the ultrafine tip as well.

    I just write on them.

    I happily buy tech! Why wouldn't I?

    Re: CD and DVD preservation

for me it depends on what it is. For back up stuff or unimportant stuff I just use a Sharpie. For other stuff like good copies of stuff recorded from Tv and such or other importqnt things you wqnt to make look nice I use printible discs and a printer that prints onto said discs.

I used to use the stick on lables, but then discs got so inexpensive that I now use an Epson printer and print direct onto the disc for the good stuff.

*I also use TY DVD-R 8X discs in my DVR to protect the DVR burner and lossless data*
