    A quick MMO question....

Keep in mind that I'm not a Trekkie(Trekker) or Star Wars fanboy, but is anyone out there interested/excited about Star Trek: Online and Star Wars: The Old Republic? IMO they both are looking pretty good. Any thoughts?

I think Galaxies killed all my hopes of ever seeing a good mmo based on a Sci-Fi series...  So no, I just can't get excited about it..

    Onboard RAID vs. 3Ware RAID

I never recommend people run RAID-5 with onboard chipsets.

While I'll agree Galaxies is/was pretty bad (it was my first MMO), the fact that Bioware is making SW:TOR is a good sign. They've already shown that 1, they can make pretty darn good RPG's and 2, they did an awesome job with the first KOTOR. And now it sounds like they are gonna get some help from Mythic, who are no stranger to MMO's. That just my opinion though. I gotta agree on Galaxies though....not the best experience for you first MMO....

Don't get too high of hopes for Bioware... I dont know about you but while KOTOR was a great game, KOTOR 2 was terrible. Mass Effect 1 was good, but not amazing..

My fear with TOR is the graphics first and foremost, the characters remind me too much of the clone wars cartoon that ran on cartoon network. It looks overly kiddy and childish.

Two... EVERYONE will be playing as Jedi and Sith.... Im tired of Jedi and Sith.

Personally I liked KOTOR 2. But in defense of BioWare, KOTOR 2 was developed by Obsidian, not BioWare Smile. I believe they were msking Jade Empire at the time.

I'm hoping that STO turns out good.  I've been waiting for a decent scifi mmo that involves both space and ground combat.

As for the new Star Wars mmo.. I don't know.  Bioware is an awesome developer but Lucas Arts has ruined all things Star Wars for me.  I'm very pessimistic (sp?) about it but hopefully that means it'll be better than my expectations.

    Re: A quick MMO question....

I honestly haven't heard much on the Trek Game but I am very excited by the idea.

I love the idea of a star trek game but I would more like to see it be like EVE or something where your character is basically a ship (or perhaps a hand picked crew of officers) and go from there.

To me Star Trek is about the ships.

As for the Star Wars...well it usually all comes down to a bunch of players running around with lightsabers that still take 10 hits to kill something...blah

    That's what she said...

I'm not really into MMOs because of the fee/time issue.

    I happily buy tech! Why wouldn't I?
